What inspired you to join the hospitality industry, and how did you start?
Initially, I worked as a quality control inspector on mechanical production lines, but I realized that role didn’t align with my passion. By chance, I entered the tourism sector and began as a Sales Executive at a hotel in Alexandria, Egypt. From the very first day, I fell in love with the dynamic nature of hospitality-the opportunity to create memorable experiences for guests and work in an environment that thrives on service and human connection.
What were some of the significant challenges you faced during your years in the hospitality industry, and how did you overcome them?
One of the most significant challenges was transitioning from a sales, marketing, and revenue-focused mindset to becoming a General Manager of a new hotel in Riyadh. To overcome this, I invested time in understanding how every department
operates and what support they need. I shifted my perspective from purely driving revenue to prioritizing the well-being and success of my team. For me, management means being a resource and asking, “How can I help you?” This approach has built trust and created a collaborative environment where everyone feels supported.
What do you think is the future of sustainable tourism in your region, and how is your hotel adapting to these changes?
The future of tourism in Riyadh is smart and sustainable, aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. At Ramada by Wyndham Riyadh, King Fahd Road, we are adapting through three key pillars:
Resource Efficiency: Implementing Wyndham Green initiatives such as smart HVAC systems and LED lighting to reduce energy consumption.
Waste Reduction: Eliminating singleuse plastics in guest rooms and dining areas, replacing them with sustainable alternatives.
Social Impact: Investing in local Saudi talent and sourcing from regional suppliers to ensure our economic contribution benefits the community.
How does your hotel contribute to preserving local culture and traditions, and what experiences can guests expect during their stay?

“The future of sustainable tourism in Phu Quoc depends on responsible growth, inclusivity, and long-term value creation.”
My inspiration to join the hospitality industry came from a strong belief that travel should create meaningful memories while respecting cultural diversity. I started my journey by focusing on resort operations and guest experience design, with a clear vision of transforming destinations into complete lifestyle experiences rather than simple accommodation facilities. This vision later led me to introduce innovative hospitality concepts to emerging destinations such as Phu Quoc.
One of the major challenges throughout my career has been implementing new concepts in markets where they had not previously existed. In Phu Quoc, I was the first to introduce the All Inclusive resort concept on the island, successfully applying it at both Wyndham Grand Phu Quoc and Wyndham Garden Phu Quoc. Introducing this model required not only operational restructuring but also cultural adaptation, staff retraining, and clear communication

with international markets. I overcame these challenges by building strong operational systems, investing in people, and adapting global standards to local realities.
The future of sustainable tourism in Phu Quoc depends on responsible growth, inclusivity, and long-term value creation. Our approach to sustainability goes beyond environmental practices; it also includes social and cultural responsibility. By sourcing locally, optimizing energy and water usage, and creating stable employment opportunities, we ensure that tourism growth benefits the island community while preserving its natural beauty.

What inspired you to join the hospitality industry, and how did you start?
Hospitality appealed to me because, at its core, it is about people and human connection. A hotel is never just a physical space; it is a living environment shaped by culture, service and the individuals who bring it to life every day. From early on, I was drawn to the idea that meaningful experiences are created through attention, empathy, and consistency.
I began my career in operational roles, which provided a strong foundation in service delivery and standards. Working closely with teams on the ground allowed me to understand how every detail - no matter how small - contributes to the guest experience. That early exposure shaped my leadership philosophy and reinforced my belief that strong commercial results are built on a deep understanding of people, both guests and colleagues.

What were some of the significant challenges you faced during your years in the hospitality industry and how did you overcome them?
One of the most defining challenges has been leading through periods of transition and uncertainty. Whether it involved repositioning a property, rebuilding leadership teams or navigating shifting market dynamics, these moments required resilience, clarity and consistency.
I learned that success during challenging periods depends on alignment - aligning people, processes and purpose. Rather than relying on rigid structures, I focused on communication, accountability and empowerment at every level of the organization. By creating clarity around direction and giving teams the confidence to take ownership, challenges became opportunities to strengthen culture, performance and long-term resilience.
What do you think is the future of sustainable tourism in your region and how is your hotel adapting to these changes?
The future of sustainable tourism in our region lies in responsibility and longterm thinking. Sustainability is no longer limited to environmental initiatives alone; it encompasses cultural preservation, community engagement and operational intelligence.

Back then, in Malaysia, joining a reputable hotel carried quiet prestige. Hotels were institutions, offering structure, stability, and a career one could take genuine pride in. Every role, no matter how small, played a part in delivering exceptional service. Hospitality was a natural fit for me. Being a people person, I thrived on engaging genuinely, listening closely, and anticipating needs before they were voiced. Every interaction was an opportunity to create a memorable experience—turning the ordinary into something extraordinary.
What were some of the significant challenges you faced during your years in the hospitality industry and how did you overcome them?
One of the biggest challenges has been navigating change without losing the soul of the business. Hospitality was built on personal relationships, intuition, and hands-
on leadership. Then came technology— systems, data, social media—turning every guest into a broadcaster.
The key was using technology to enhance, not replace, genuine service. Social media demanded faster responses and greater consistency, but by treating tech as a tool and reinforcing service fundamentals, balance was maintained.
At its core, hospitality is still about warmth, respect, and human connection—a timeless principle that defines the industry.
What do you think is the future of sustainable tourism in your region and how is your hotel adapting to these changes?
Sustainable tourism is increasingly becoming a core expectation rather than a trend. Guests are more conscious of their environmental and social impact, and the industry is seeing a shift toward responsible practices—from energy efficiency and waste reduction to supporting local communities.
At M Resort & Hotel Kuala Lumpur, we aim to adapt where we can. Initiatives focus on practical steps: reducing single-use plastics, streamlining energy and water use, and working with local suppliers. Today, I lead the Sales & Marketing department at Fairmont Amman, with a strong commitment to delivering excellence.
What were some of the significant challenges you faced during your years in the hospitality industry, and how did you overcome them?
Over the years, we have navigated market and economic fluctuations, as well as significant challenges such as the pandemic and recent regional conflicts. To address these obstacles, we implemented a range of strategic initiatives, leveraging digital platforms—from our website to social media—to promote Jordan as a safe destination and effectively reach our target audiences.
What do you think is the future of sustainable tourism in your region, and how is your hotel adapting to these changes?
Sustainability is a top priority and deeply embedded in our company’s values. Across the region, sustainable tourism is gaining momentum, with organizations such as the Jordan Tourism Board introducing initiatives and campaigns aligned with the country’s environmental objectives. At Fairmont Amman, we are proud to be a Green Key–certified hotel and have adopted industry-leading eco-conscious practices, including the use of solar energy, motionsensor lighting, and water-efficient systems. The region is making meaningful strides in sustainability, and the hospitality sector continues to evolve, leading by example and raising awareness of this critical responsibility.
How does your hotel contribute to preserving local culture and traditions, and what experiences can guests expect during their stay?
At Fairmont Amman, cultural preservation is seamlessly woven into the guest experience.
