We’ve got fun for all the family this spring with Harrogate Theatre’s brand new Little Stages Festival! This includes a superb selection of shows to keep the kids entertained and to spark the imaginations of our next generation of theatre-goers!

Play hide-and-seek with the animals from Acorn Wood, cheer as Zog duels with Sir Gadabout the Great, sing your hearts out with Mirabel from the smash hit film musical in Sing-A-Long-A Encanto and join Molly and Bingo in I Spy With My Little Eye where they’ll be celebrating their birthday party in style! All this and much more will be included in this year’s festival; packed full of fun, laughter and plenty of surprises - you won’t want to miss out!

Flotsam is soft, flexible, laid back. She slides and glides through life on the ice. Jetsam is the opposite, his insectile body is stiff and nervy, alert and watchful, suspicious of all in his forest home. And then comes the weather…and they are both cast adrift in a world that is strange to them and full of a range of dangers. Finally washed up on the same island beach they must discover the other and work out how they can work together.

A hopeful adventure story about two very different creatures displaced from their respective worlds by climate change. A story of our time, visual, accessible and with delightful puppetry and original music.

ZOG

Based on the book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. Large in size and keen in nature, Zog is eager to win a golden star at Madam Dragon’s school, where dragons learn all the things that dragons need to know. Zog tries so very hard, perhaps too hard, and he bumps, burns and roars his way through years one, two and three. Luckily, the plucky Princess Pearl patches him up ready to face his biggest challenge yet…a duel with a knight, Sir Gadabout the Great!

The smash-hit stage adaptation from Freckle Productions is back and promises to be bigger, brighter and more roar-some than ever before!

WIND IN THE WILLOWS

From the peaceful pleasures of Ratty’s beloved river bank to the fearful frights and wicked weasels of the Wild Wood, join Mole and Ratty on their marvellous adventures, along with gruff old Badger and magnificent Mr. Toad.

A beautiful new adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s much loved classic by award winning theatre company Box Tale Soup, featuring wonderful puppetry, innovative theatre and a charming original score.

Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s beloved Tales from Acorn Wood stories are brought to life, on stage, for the first time in an enchanting lift-the-flap experience.

Poor old Fox has lost his socks! Are they in the kitchen or inside the clock? And Rat-a-tat-tat! Who’s that keeping tired Rabbit awake? You can also join in with Pig and Hen’s game of hide-and-seek and discover the special surprise Postman Bear is planning for his friends.

Packed full of toe-tapping songs, puppetry, and all the friends from Acorn Wood, this beautiful show from the team that brought you Dear Zoo Live and Dear Santa promises to be the perfect treat for children of all ages.

SING-A-LONG-A ENCANTO

Gather la Familia! It’s time to celebrate something truly Magical. From the producers of Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music and Sing-a-Long-a Frozen, the brand new smash hit film musical of 2021 about the Family Madrigal with lyrics on screen that everyone can’t stop singing. Cheer on Mirabel as she tries to save the magic surrounding the Encanto. Sing your heart out with our live host, who will teach you some dance moves, help you create some magic and show you how to use your free props bag.

UGLY DUCKLING

Ugly Duckling is lonely and fed-up, ignored by those around her who think she is too ugly to fit in. She tries to make friends with fellow ducklings as well as with frogs, cats and even a fox, but realising she is not like any of these animals, she is left sad and alone. Follow the duckling on her journey as she overcomes her troubles and learns to love herself and those around her.

Northern Ballet’s (as seen on CBeebies) retelling of the famous Hans Christian Andersen fairytale, Ugly Duckling is the perfect opportunity for your little ones to enjoy live ballet, music and theatre for the first time.

I SPY WITH MY LITTLE EYE

I Spy With My Little Eye – The Party! – Based on the picture book by Steven Lee. Molly and Bingo the puppy are having a birthday party and, best of all, you’re invited! There’ll be a terrific treasure hunt, all your favourite sing-along songs, including The Ants Go Marching, Hickory Dickory Dock and BINGO, and lots of fantastic games to play, including Molly’s favourite game, I Spy With My Little Eye! So put on your party clothes and come join us for what promises to be a magical day of fun and laughter. It’s going to be the best party ever!
