Next month is World Down Syndrome Month and we’ll be celebrating all October long with events that bring our community together, spread awareness & raise support for inclusion!

To kick things off, everyone is invited to The Shine Your Light Talent Show at Cape Fear Christian Church on Sept. 20. Doors open at 12:30 pm and the show will run from 1:00 to 3:00pm. Admission is $10 at the door.

This joyful afternoon celebrates the incredible talents of individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities

BuddyWalk is the highlight of our year! It is our largest celebration AND our most important fundraiser, supporting programs & services for individuals with Down syndrome & their families.

Most of us know what to do if someone is having a heart attack we’d start CPR or call 911 without hesitation But what if you saw someone in the middle of a panic attack, or noticed signs that they might be considering suicide? Would you know how to respond?

These upcoming trainings led by Keri Hill will equip you with the tools to recognize the signs, step in with confidence, and connect someone to help These situations are far more common than many realize and your response can save a life

Mia is in the MSW program at Columbia University, specializing in policy, field of practice & contemporary social issues.

Mia will be at HC Tuesdays & Thursdays, focusing on housing She will be doing research around affordability, helping with housing stability & assessments.

Wednesday mornings, you’ll find Mia in Help Hub doing Housing Navigation.

Mia starts Sept 15 & will be here until May

The first meeting of the collaborative program hit the mid-year goal! Fifteen foster caregivers attended the parenting workshop with FSN and 10 kids were introduced to Kids WRAP with PRR!
