Kinloch
How’s the Market ?
A picturesque village set on a quiet bay near the top of Lake Taupō, Kinloch is an in-the-know hideaway, particularly for keen golfers and mountain bikers. Just 20 minutes from Taupō town, Kinloch is home to two excellent golf courses, including the Jack Nicklaus designed The Kinloch Club that has been ranked as the best golf course in New Zealand. It’s overlooked by the imposing castle-like luxury lodge The Kinloch Club designed to pay tribute to the Scots heritage of the township (kinloch is from Scottish Gaelic, meaning ‘head of the lake’). At the village, the Great Lake Trail, part of Nga Haerenga – the NZ Cycle Trail, diverges east and west. By mountain bike or foot, the bush-clad trail gradually climbs to cliffs above Kinloch where your efforts are rewarded with magnificent views right across Lake Taupo.

Turangi
How’s the Market ?
Nestled on the plains below the forest-clad Kaimanawa Ranges, Turangi is a basecamp for world-class fly fishing for trout on the pristine Tongariro River, and the gateway to the awe-inspiring beauty and adventure of the Tongariro National Park. Turangi has been known as a fishing paradise for decades; in the 1920s American adventure author Zane Grey fished here and wrote Tales of An Angler’s Eldorado about chasing trout of mythic size. The first trout caught in Taupo was landed in April 1904, weighing 1.36kg. Hiring a fishing guide who can show you their favourite fishing pools and organise your licence is the best way to get your feet wet. Ten minutes from Turangi town centre, the two-hour loop walk to Lake Rotopounamu takes you through cool beech forest populated by native birds, to the hidden gem of a white sand beach perfect for picnics.Turangi is an easy 40 minute drive by car or bus from Taupo town. In the other direction, it’s also 40 minutes to Whakapapa Ski Area, and 20 minutes to the start point for the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.

Taumarunui Taumarunui is best known for its railway history, farming, weaving, golf and more recently, cycle trails. The town is complete with one or two colourful characters, a museum and a unique rail cart adventure. The Timber Trail from Piropiro flats to Ongarue is a fantastic mountain bike ride or walk, following much of the Ongarue bush tram system. Ongarue represents an important part of the timber industry and early pioneering history.
HHowo’ws’sththe et ?t ? arakreke MM
Taumarunui was originally a Maori settlement at the confluence of the Ongarue River with the Whanganui, with important canoe routes linking the interior of the island with the lower Whanganui River settlements. Some places, notably the valley of the Pungapunga Stream, which joins the upper Whanganui River near Manunui, were celebrated for the size and quality of totara trees, and large canoes were carved there. The area is a border between a number of iwi including Whanganui, Ngāti Maniapoto and Ngāti Tūwharetoa, who lived together in relative harmony.

National Park.
State-Of-The-Art Living
A design of Architect David Ponting himself, this state-ofthe-art home will have you bursting with enthusiasm to inspect the intriguing creation further. Nestled amongst the Central Plateau Mountains you will find a rare gem in National Park Village, disguised as an innovative, overpowering working-mans garage. Spectacular views on offer tucked away in privacy. A hard days’ playing on the mountains deserves a relaxing soak in the Spa gazing upon the sun setting over Mount Ruapehu turning the white of snow into a cosy tone of pink. The home provides four double bedrooms, all with built-in wardrobes, one which can transform into a designated T.V room along with two separate bathrooms. Find yourself entertaining guests with a round of Billiards in front of one of two open Double-sided Fires travelling through the homes centre. The construction of the robust “shed” is made from silver Zincalume and features window shutters, making this home air-tight against all elements thrown at the Alpine Village.
