Unit Aggregations
A unique feature of concept is the modularity of the bedroom space which can be rotated 45°. Each of these systems can be conveniently packed and transported in trucks measuring 11’ in height, 16’ in width, and 44’ in length. The aggregation logic remains consistent with the modular system.

SUNDIAL SIMULATION

The top part of the model is made of mdf and the bottom part is made of 3D print filament, plus the bottom part is hollow and the top part is solid. Therefore, the temperature of the upper part is obviously higher than the lower part. The temperature of the lower part of the model soon matches the outdoor temperature, while the upper part of the model still maintains a relatively higher temperature.
Based on the lady bug the Total solar radiation from 8AM-11AM(17 Dec. 2023) is : 1011.05KWh x 4800SqM= 4.853e+6 KWh/SqM
According to the picture of this solar radiation data, it can be seen that more energy was gained at the top during these three hours.
The similarity between the two sets of pictures is that the upper part gets a higher value. The difference is that the middle part, which is connected through the bridge, has a higher temperature in the temperature graph, while the tadiation data shows that it receives very little Incident Radiation. I think the reason for this different is because the model was taken out of the room. So the heat is kept inside. Radiation is calculated from zero.

The picture shows the total incident solar radiation (Kwh) before and after the shading of a whole day on the glazed area shading on 21 Jun. 2023 a whole day. Although the radiations of all building are more from the data, The facade has increased the overall surface area of the building, the direct sunlight on the glazed is dispersed, Solar gain is avoided by 7% per unit, which is an overall optimization of about 3.2%.
The direction of increased shading is primarily to the south of the building, with secondary shading to the east, which is the primary source of light. A 23.1% reduction in glare is evident.
Maintaining Daylight Autonomy didn’t change after the shade was added.
I chose 8:00AM in 21 Jun. 2023, The reason is as you can see from the Sun pass, this is the time when the windows face the pass and the sunlight is at its maximum. After adding the façade, the exposure and glare was effectively minimized as can be seen from the sunlight simulation in the rendering.
This innovative ventilation design combines a functional and aesthetically pleasing ventilated roof with integrated vents and a green layer for air purification and insulation, enhanced by natural light through skylights. Double-glazed windows strategically placed around the building maximize natural light and cross-ventilation, significantly reducing the need for artificial heating and cooling. Landscaping plays a key role, with trees and water features strategically positioned to guide breezes into the building and cool the air. The design also features large glass doors and retractable walls, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor flow, further enhancing natural ventilation and connecting occupants with the surrounding environment.

The design prominently features a circle entrance and circle sky well, embodying a metaphysical representation of energy’s cyclical nature. This shape serves as the core of the entire design, offering a concealed focal point while presenting an equitable and non-hierarchical edge. The building’s primary structure and flow pathways are defined by this circular boundary. Positioned at the entrance, this circular form bridges the earthly realm (symbolizing life) and the subterranean world (representing death), fostering a space of deeper connection. By incorporating water, which blurs the boundaries between these realms, the design encapsulates the ongoing cycle of existence.

HYPHAE INTERVENTION
Dharavi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India
Date: 2022 Spring
Instructor: JiaJia Lv
In the heart of Mumbai, India’s bustling commercial capital, is one of Asia’s largest slums, Khudharavi. With one million people cramped in an area of nearly two square kilometers.
Thousands of people in Dharavi share a single toilet, which is notorious for being narrow and unsanitary. The Mahim is a river that flows through the area, and the people of Dharavi routinely dump their feces into the river, causing widespread infectious diseases.
Mycelial Growth
This project aims to use mycelium to improve pollution in the surrounding area and intervene in the lack of water and toilets. By dividing the original space of the buildings, toilets and mycelium with purification function are adopted into use while retaining the original function. The mycelium cooperates with the device with the sewage function to purify the used water in the toilet, and the recycled water will be collected and reused through centralized processing.
SOAPHERING
University of Pennsylvania Instructor: Laia Mogas-Soldevila
Date: 2022 Fall
This project blends 3D printed elements with handcrafted soap. It starts with melting transparent soap, which is then tinted with blue food dye. After it solidifies, the soap is crushed and mixed with fresh, uncolored soap. This process is repeated multiple times to achieve a texture reminiscent of sunlit ocean ripples. The soap is then reshaped using a predetermined mold and ultimately integrated with the 3D printed model.

Named “Tenopy,” this solar-powered wooden structure provides shade and radiant cooling at bus stops, addressing the effects of heat islands, particularly for vulnerable communities. The design, led by Dorit Aviv from the Thermal Architecture Lab, emphasizes open-air relief to balance cooling needs and pandemic concerns. The project reflects a communitydriven, sustainable approach to urban heat challenges, with plans for potential permanent installations.
