Each year, the Hanover chamber recognizes outstanding local businesses, organizations, and educators at the Business Awards Ceremony. This year's event, presented by Doceo, APPI Energy, and KLK Welding will take place on Thursday, November 7 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bay City Restaurant. Please note: this event will now include a seated dinner and cash bar!
Nominations will be accepted until October 10. 2018 recipients included: Hanover Land Services as Small Business of the Year; Rich Moorhead, Art of Board as Entrepreneur of the Year; and Guthrie Memorial Library as a recipient of the Positive Action Award.
Member anniversaries, as well as the Ambassador of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, and Positive Action Award will be recognized. Area educators will also be recognized with the Educator of the Year awards.
Please consider joining us for this event! Both chamber members and members of the community are invited; cost to attend is $25 per person. Table sponsorships are available for area businesses and educators wishing to accomodate additional guests and staff. Please contact Haley Briggs at hbriggs@hanoverchamber.com if interested in sponsoring a table.

PA State Rep. Kate Klunk and PA State Rep. Torren Ecker recently voiced their support of PA State Rep. Jared Solomon's Schools to Work Program, which will will help pave the way for innovative pre-apprenticeship programs--like Hanover's current program-across the commonwealth. The amendment was added to Senate Bill 89 thanks to the support of our local representatives. HART Center 50th Anniversary Celebration
Emerge – The Hanover Area Conference for Women
Come out and join the HART Center on Wednesday, September 25 from 4-7 p.m. to celebrate its 50th anniversary! Members of the New Oxford Area Chamber of Commerce, Hanover Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Gettysburg and Adams County are invited to attend this event.
Emerge – The Hanover Area Conference for Women is a one-day professional and personal development event for women. The conference will feature more than 20 engaging speakers sharing inspirational stories and leading seminars on the issues that matter most to women, including health & wellness, career development, leadership, work/life balance, and more. Attendees will have incredible opportunities for business networking, professional development, and personal growth.
The evening will feature refreshments, networking, facility tours, a brief reception, raffles and more! Additionally, the Center’s Thrift Store will be open during the event. Be sure to stop by the store to take advantage of a special deal. All proceeds from the raffles and Thrift Store will benefit the HART Center. The HART Center provides vocational rehabilitation and a variety of work experiences for adults with disabilities residing in Adams County and Western York County. The Center’s primary objective is to provide each individual with opportunities for personal growth and self-dependency with regard to work skills. Individuals choose to obtain competitive employment whenever possible. In addition, the HART Center offers extended work training programs to individuals needing more support and structure to reach their vocational objectives. Those interested in attending the 50th Anniversary Celebration are encouraged to RSVP to Michaela Shaffer at the New Oxford Chamber by emailing info@newoxford.org. RSVPs are greatly appreciated so an approximate count of attendees can be provided to the HART Center for planning purposes.

Ox Industries Acquires Arlington, TX Based Paper Tube and Core Operation Ox Industries recently announced their acquisition of Arlington, Texas based Custom Paper Tube South West. The acquisition broadens the Ox market offering in the Dallas area by expanding its protective packaging and tube and core capacity. Custom Paper Tube will be Ox Industries’ sixth converting plant within its vertically integrated platform and will add to their offering with additional products and services. Ox Industries, headquartered in Hanover, PA, is a vertically integrated, 100% recycled paper products manufacturer specializing in recycled paperboard, paper tubes and cores and green protective packaging. Ox operates three paper mills and six converting plants in seven states.

ArtsFest featuring Chalk It Up – September 14
Artists of all ages are invited to participate in an event that celebrates local artists! ArtsFest, featuring the Chalk It Up competition, will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 14 in downtown Hanover. ArtsFest will feature art vendors selling their works, live art, as well as interactive and community art. Participants of the Chalk It Up event will create their own works of art on sidewalk slabs for all to see. Judges will choose a favorite and prizes will be awarded to the winner. Registration is encouraged and free; we hope to see you there!
Spooky Spirits – FRIDAY, October 11
Come downtown for Main Street Hanover’s Halloween-themed Sip & Stroll event on Friday, October 11 from 6 to 9 p.m.! Stroll downtown wearing your best Halloween costume, visit different businesses, and taste a variety of beer, cider, and wine. Participating businesses will be judging ticketholders’ costumes throughout the night, and the best costume from the event will receive a prize. Enjoy a spooky night--for adults only--and help us celebrate Halloween in downtown!
