Chamber Welcomes Julia Groft as Chair of the Board The chamber would like to welcome Julia Groft, Vice President of Operations at Manpower, as chair of the board. Groft succeeds Kevin Gulden of Utz Quality Foods after he served seven years with our organization. To learn more about Gulden's contributions to the chamber, please turn to page 4. Groft is eager to take on her new role with the chamber, “I have been involved with the chamber for many years, and I look forward to being an integral part of its leadership team. I have a personal interest in workforce development and am excited to be involved with the various workforce initiatives the chamber leads.” Under her leadership, the chamber will continue its focus on economic and workforce development, community leadership and strengthening chamber membership. In terms of economic development, the focus will remain on our tourism campaign and the Main Street Hanover (MSH) program, which will enter its eighth year in 2020. The Main Street program is critical to the revitalization and continued economic growth of downtown Hanover, and the chamber is proud to support its efforts.
Regarding tourism, the chamber will continue to promote the Discover Hanover® brand that was developed in 2019. 2020 will also be the biggest year in history for our Discover Hanover® Magazine, as distribution will be at an all-time high of 40,000 copies in five states. This increase wouldn’t be possible without a grant from Explore York. Workforce development will also be a key focus in the new year as the chamber continues to fulfill the needs of local employers through the Hanover Apprenticeship Program, which now includes eight business partners and three school districts. The chamber will also focus on talent pipeline management for highdemand occupations. The Leadership Hanover program will continue to grow in the new year. The 20192020 Leadership Hanover class will complete the new program that was developed for last year’s class. In addition to Leadership Hanover, the chamber will support the growth of the Hanover Area Young Professionals (HAYP), an organization that strives to meet the needs of the emerging business leaders in the community. As always, membership will be a top priority. The chamber continually evaluates its programs to provide members with opportunities to grow their businesses. Through events, marketing, advocacy, health benefits, and much more, the chamber provides a wide range of opportunities to showcase and strengthen member businesses. Please join us in welcoming Julia Groft to her new role as chair of the board. We look forward to her involvement and are excited for the many initiatives she will lead.
