Leadership Hanover is a unique leadership program focused on developing connections with key leaders in the Hanover community. Meeting once a month for six months, the program focuses on major areas of the community like local government, education, economic development, and more.

The 2020-2021 session begins in October. Applications should be completed and returned to the Hanover Chamber office by August 31.

Leadership Hanover is designed to help make individuals more successful by better knowing the Hanover area, networking with key business men and women throughout the community, and establishing strong relationships with other participants. Employers who invest in Leadership Hanover are investing in employees that will become well-rounded and well-connected leaders.

For those with questions about the program, the chamber will be hosting virtual informational sessions on July 7, July 21, August 11, and August 25. Both morning and afternoon sessions are available for convenience. Please RVSP on our website if you'd like to attend. Attendees will receive login instructions after registering.

Therefore, the likelihood of contamination and the risk of possible transmission is extremely low and, as there are no recorded cases of transmission, is only theoretical. In addition, experts predict that day-trip travel will be the most common form of travel once visitors feel safe enough to do so. Bailey Coach Disinfects Vehicles in Support of COVID-19 Response Fund

ELSNER Announces Acquisition of Paco Winders Manufacturing

Bailey Coach and United Way of York County are pleased to partner together to offer a unique service to our community and support the York County COVID-19 Response Fund at the same time.

ELSNER, a leading manufacturer of automation machinery to convert papers, films, foils, plastics and nonwovens, has acquired the Intellectual Property of Paco Winders Manufacturing from OX Industries. The purchase includes all IP and drawings in relation to Paco machinery and parts. The previous Paco plant, located in Philadelphia, will remain closed as the business shifts to the ELSNER corporate headquarters located in Hanover, PA.

In response to COVID-19, Bailey Coach has dedicated one of its specialized electrostatic sprayers to disinfect personal vehicles, with a cash-only suggested $10 donation going to support the York County COVID-19 Response Fund. The service will be offered Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the United Way vehicle! Bailey Coach has already disinfected more than 600 first responder vehicles using this system since April 7, at no cost to these public servants on the front lines. United Way of York County, in partnership with York County Community Foundation (YCCF) and other philanthropic partners, established the York County COVID-19 Response Fund to meet the immediate and increased needs in our community caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. 100% of donations to the Fund support nonprofits serving York County with the greatest capacity to provide food and shelter to our most vulnerable neighbors. To date, York County has raised over $1,021,000 for the Fund, and United Way and YCCF have awarded over $242,000 in grants to ten York County nonprofits. HACC Student Makes Face Shields for Frontline Workers Jake Grim, a student enrolled in the Business Administration Program at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, wanted to give back to his community during the global coronavirus pandemic. Grim has made over 800 face shields and distributed them to organizations within the community. “It’s important to me to ensure that those working on the frontline of this worldwide pandemic stay safe,” said Grim. “The most difficult challenge for me was obtaining the required materials to assemble the face shields. I spoke with 15 different companies across the United States to get foam and plastic.” HACC’s response to the global pandemic made these challenging times a little easier to bear. “HACC stepped up to the plate,” said Grim of his experience with transitioning to remote learning. “I am impressed with how well they’ve done.” HACC is proud of Grim’s selfless work to help his fellow community members and is proud to call him a HACC Hawk.

“We’ve been a local resource, making parts for Paco customers for the past five years. The Paco plant was shuttered in December, and since then we have realized there is a need in the marketplace to provide continuity of service to Paco customers,” said Bert Elsner II, President/CEO of ELSNER. “Having acquired the IP and official drawings, we can now more easily provide that service beyond locally, nationwide. The purchase is aligned with our Contract Manufacturing business unit and we are looking forward to better serving our Paco customers.” ELSNER’s extensive experience manufacturing converting machinery for complex and diverse markets, many using paper cores, means they are well-positioned to take on the longstanding Paco business. Paco has been manufacturing machinery for the paper tube, can and core industry since 1955.“ “We are able to manufacture parts for Paco machines and beyond, as we manufacture parts for hundreds of types of machines with our full onsite custom machining operation,” remarked Elsner. “We are setting up to get started immediately with repair parts as well as manufacturing and stocking new parts as soon as possible. Our plan is to make working with ELSNER a seamless experience.”

WELLSPAN APPOINTS NEW EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF PHYSICIAN EXECUTIVE WellSpan Health has named Anthony Aquilina, D.O., as executive vice president and chief physician executive for the health system. He will join WellSpan in July. Aquilina will come to WellSpan after more than 25 years at Geisinger Health, most recently serving as regional president of Geisinger Northeast. In his new role, Aquilina will serve as WellSpan’s senior physician leader. He will align and engage providers in strategic priorities, including quality and experience. Aquilina will also act as president of WellSpan Medical Group and clinical executive of all service lines. In partnership with John Porter, executive vice president and chief operating officer of WellSpan Health, Aquilina will have executive oversight of physician and clinical practice, hospital operations, ambulatory and home care, population health and graduate medical education. WELLSPAN APPOINTS NEW SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT FOR CENTRAL REGION; PRESIDENT OF WELLSPAN YORK HOSPITAL WellSpan Health has named Victoria Diamond as new senior vice president for the central region of WellSpan Health. She will also serve as president of WellSpan York Hospital. Diamond, who has been with WellSpan since 2015, previously served as senior vice president for the health system and president of WellSpan Surgery and Rehabilitation Hospital, where she led strategic and operational efforts to advance the hospital, including achieving Magnet accreditation. Diamond also served as vice

president of ancillary services, where she led the development and opening of the WellSpan Health and Surgery Center in Hanover, and also redesigned WellSpan’s employer service offerings, Well at Work. In her new role, Diamond will serve as the leader of WellSpan York Hospital, focusing on service and operational excellence, quality, safety and engagement. She will also oversee WellSpan Surgery and Rehabilitation Hospital and Apple Hill Medical Center. HACC PRESIDENT ELECTED TO BOARD OF NATIONAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE ASSOCIATION HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s College, remains a leader in national education advocacy with the recent election of its president, John J. “Ski” Sygielski, Ed.D., MBA, to the board of directors of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). Sygielski will serve a three-year term from July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2023. He served as chairman of its Board in 2010-11. Sygielski was appointed co-chair of the AACC’s Commission on Institutional Infrastructure and Transformation and will serve on the Board’s Program Initiatives and Workforce Training Committee, both from July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021. He is the Board’s contact for Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society of two-year colleges, and is a member of the AACC’s 21st-Century Commission on the Future of Community Colleges. STOCK AND LEADER SCHOOL CHAIR NAMED AS ONE OF CENTRAL PA'S MOST INFLUENTIAL WOMEN Stock and Leader is pleased to announce that Partner Brooke E.D. Say, Esquire has been named an honoree of the 2020 Central Penn Business Journal Women of Influence awards, an event held virtually on June 22.

Say was selected by judges for her leadership and achievements within Stock and Leader and the field of School and Special Education law and her contributions to the community. Say is the youngest and first female appointed as Chair of the Stock and Leader School Law practice group, a position she has held for the past five years. In her specialty, Say leads efforts for school districts to more proactively meet their legal obligations in special education and advocates for strategic “relational” intelligence in managing conflict with parents of special education students. BYRNES HEALTH EDUCATION CENTER NAMES NEW DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT The Byrnes Health Education Center recently announced the hiring of Lyndsey Mackie, Director of Development. In her leadership role, Mackie will work strategically to expand opportunities and enhance growth as the Center moves into the second quarter century of service across South Central Pennsylvania. Mackie brings over seven years of nonprofit management experience to the Center with expertise in programming, strategic partnerships, and fund development. July Brings New Downtown Events! The green phase brings new opportunities for events for Main Street Hanover. We are excited to be able to move forward with a few summer events you’ll recognize and some that are brand new. Read on for more details!

Picnic in the Park at Wirt Park! Friday, July 10 & Friday, August 7, 4:00-6:30 p.m.

Main Street Hanover invites you to come to the beautiful downtown greenspace, Wirt Park, for some food truck fun and live music! This new summer series is an exciting way to enjoy the community while social distancing outdoors. Food trucks will serve up great food and local musicians will help set the mood for some summer evening fun. You can also order takeout from downtown and bring it over to enjoy the live music. Make sure to bring your own picnic blanket and chairs. This event is family-friendly and a brand new series for downtown Hanover. We hope you’ll join us!

Pop-Up Sips: Are You Ready? Main Street Hanover is excited to announce a set of brand new events, our Pop-Up Sip & Strolls! These mini sip & stroll events will present the same business "open house" atmosphere with samples of the area’s best beer and wine, but on an intimate scale. 100 tickets will be sold for each event, so don’t hesitate to get yours. July 17- 6:00-9:00 p.m. July 31- 6:00-9:00 p.m. Tickets: $15 General Admission (Day of tickets jump to $20); $5 DD, plus processing fees. These small-scale sip & strolls will allow our organization to hold these beloved events in a safe and manageable way. All CDC requirements will be followed.
