Shop Local, Buy Local: Chamber Dollars Although we’re in the thick of the summer months, it’s never too early to start planning for the holiday shopping season. This year, make sure that your business maximizes local shopping by accepting Chamber Dollars. A program exclusive to Hanover Chamber members, Chamber Dollars are redeemable for goods and services (same as cash) at any participating member business. There is no cost to members to participate, and all participating businesses will be promoted throughout the holiday season in Chamber marketing for the Chamber Dollars program. This program is run directly by the Chamber; checks are sold in $10 and $25 denominations, and contain an array of security features, including thermochromic ink, padlock icon and a chemical-wash detection area. Chamber Dollars are easy for the retailer. Treat these checks just like you would a consumer’s check by depositing the check at your financial institution. If the customer does not use the entire amount of the Chamber Dollars, the difference is not to be given as cash. It is essentially a “use or lose” system. This ensures a seamless process for both the Chamber and the participating members.
Participating businesses will be listed on the Chamber website, and each business will be provided marketing collateral and point-ofsale material to signify that Chamber Dollars are accepted. To participate in Chamber Dollars this holiday season and have your business promoted at no cost, please be sure to indicate your interest to the Chamber office no later than August 31, 2016. Again, there is no cost beyond Chamber membership to participate in the program. For more information, please contact the Chamber office.
