What to know about the Masters

The Masters is golf’s premier event and for most people, getting there is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The Masters Golf Tournament usually takes place each year in early April. The Masters takes place every year at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.

The Masters Tournament is seven days long, beginning with the practice rounds on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and concluding with the four tournament rounds that run from Thursday to Sunday. Each day of the tournament offers something a little different and the best day to attend is largely a matter of personal preference. Wednesday offers the par 3 contest along with a more relaxed atmosphere and the option to take pictures on the course. Thursday or Friday affords the opportunity to see all the golfers in the field, before cuts are made. Sunday patrons get to witness the grand finale and often the most exciting golf action of the tournament.

After round two on Friday, the top 50 players (and ties) move on. Rory McIlroy won the 2025 Masters tournament, completing the career grand slam. The winner of the Masters receives the iconic green jacket and also an impressive purse: in 2025, Rory McIlroy’s first place prize money was $4.2 million. The second-place prize of $2.268 million went to Justin Rose. A long-standing tradition, the Champions Dinner is held the Tuesday of Masters week. Also known as the Masters Club Dinner, the previous year’s Master’s winner hosts and selects the menu. »

Rory s Grand Slam

After a roller-coaster final round, Rory McIlroy made a birdie on the first playoff hole to beat Justin Rose and complete the career Grand Slam. What does the win mean for the rest of McIlroy’s season? Who else stood out? Who are the favorites for the remaining majors, starting with the PGA Championship in mid-May?

Here are some of the biggest questions coming out of the Masters and looking forward to the rest of the 2025 season. »
