This architectural dissertation was submitted to Heriot-Watt University Dubai,
as part of their Y4 2021-2022 BA(Hons) Architecture course; and was nominated for the The Ninth Undergraduate Research Competition (2021), Abu Dhabi.
This dissertation explores the interplay between video games and architectural space, examining how immersive gameplay experiences reflect and influence real-world design.
As video games increasingly prioritize realism and immersion, they blur the lines between virtual and physical environments. This research investigates whether video games can enhance our perception of architectural space as an interactive medium. By comparing new typologies of space in games to real-world experiences and gathering user insights, the project reveals the potential for virtual and physical realms to coexist, ultimately benefiting designers in their creative processes.
