Retrofit challenge a missed opportunity, insists the FMB Despite welcome announcements on funding for skills, business rates and housing, it’s disappointing that the retrofit challenge to make our homes greener and more energy efficient has not been grasped by the Government, says the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) in response to the Budget and Spending Review. Brian Berry, Chief Executive of the FMB said: “The Chancellor has missed the opportunity to give householders peace of mind about how they can tackle the net zero challenge. With nothing on retrofit for owner occupiers in

last week’s Heat and Buildings Strategy, I’m struggling to see how the country will reach its legally binding net zero targets by 2050 if it doesn’t fix the UK’s 29 million leaky homes.” FOR FURTHER INFORMATION VISIT: WWW.RDR.LINK/BAB001

DECISION OF THE BOARD

‘Time to reconstruct CITB’ says National Federation of Builders

The NFB’s members have also called for the delivery of apprenticeship and qualification financial incentives through Government, and ending CITB projects and programmes. DUST YOURSELF DOWN

Bureau Veritas is urging construction firms to eliminate dust risks “The focus on respiratory health as part of the HSE’s inspection initiative is a necessary step in improving practices,” declares Fran Watkins-White, Head of CDM Services at Bureau Veritas. Construction companies should consider the risk of exposure to dust and other hazardous materials from project conception, effectively ‘designing out’ the dust risk through construction planning. The organisation can provide support in this process through its CDM Consultancy services. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MORE VISIT WWW.RDR.LINK/BAB003
