This talk will give you an insight into designing and installing the correct detectors for the correct locations. Presented by ESP, Scolmore Group 13.10–13.40 | RCD CONSIDERATIONS FOR RENEWABLE TECHNOLOGY In the context of renewable energy systems, the correct use of Residual Current Devices (RCDs) is crucial for ensuring electrical safety. For air source heat pumps, RCDs should be selected based on the specific electrical characteristics of the inverter, including its power rating and operational conditions whilst considering the manufacturer’s instructions. When selecting protective devices for solar PV or battery storage installations, it is vital to ensure that any bidirectional energy flow is considered. Additionally, the assembly rating of distribution board must be carefully considered to handle the combined load of all supplies. In summary, correct RCD selection and distribution board assembly ratings are essential to protect users, ensure system reliability, and comply with the requirements of BS 7671.
