March 10, 2026 General Conference Informational Q & A Meeting Excitement about our coming 34th General Conference is building. People are beginning to register and make their plans to come! We will enjoy several days of biblical preaching and teaching; we will discover what is happening around the conference and around the world in the areas of youth ministry, church planting, missions, and community outreach. Some of you may be wondering what the daily schedule will be like, or want more information about the plenary or break-out speaking sessions. You might like some more information about our meal plans, or when we will be celebrating ordinations with those who have readied themselves for that great step.
If you have those kinds of questions, we’ll give you a chance to ask them and learn more about the four days we’ve been planning for months. We already held one electronic meeting in which we talked almost exclusively about the officer election proposal that is coming from the Council. Every 4 years, the conference members and delegates determine how many General Superintendents to elect, as well as how many Conference Superintendents. That’s written right into ¶621 of the Discipline. The General Council is going to recommend that we elect two General Superintendents and two Conference Superintendents this time. For most of our early days, the EMC elected at least one Assistant General Superintendent, and sometimes two. Of course, the final decision will be made by the members and delegates of the conference. Superintendent Edwards and the Conference Planning Team are going to host a question-and-answer meeting in which we will walk through the schedule and answer general questions, as well as any questions about the officer election proposal. Because we span 4 time zones, we will open the meeting twice – once from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Eastern time, and once from 8:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m Eastern time.
