January

Year-end is a very busy time for our elected General Secretary/Treasurer. Rev. Brian Hammond works very hard to manage the EMC’s finances, making sure every bill is paid and every donation is properly posted and receipted. It is his responsibility to ensure we are fiscally transparent and accountable, and that we faithfully comply with ethics standards for organizational ministry.

We deeply appreciate his conscientious work - thank you, Pastor Brian!

He and I have been speaking about the statistical reporting deadlines for our churches and ministers, and the importance of full compliance. The discipline requires ALL of our churches and ALL of our credentialed ministers (who are not in retirement status) to report annually. I asked him to write an invitation and reminder for me to include in the January Tuesday briefs, and these next two will be content from him.

End of Year Reporting Deadline

Believe it or not, the January 31 reporting deadline is next week! All EMC credential holders and churches are required to report. You can find the link to the report forms as well as instructions on completing them on our website here:

Statistical and Financial Report Forms

Many of you use the Finance Report (F900) we provide. If you use the Excel sheets from the website each month, they will help you easily and accurately complete the financial and statistical portion of the church report at the end of the year. You can check them out here:

Lastly, Exciting News! In Pastor Max’s Tuesday Brief next week (January 27th), we will have an exciting announcement concerning tax return preparations for EMC clergy!

Please be sure you open it and read that announcement!
