IN THE KNOW with Bill and Lisa Walker Your EMC Missions update—Sept 2026
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY! On the Missions Day of the 34th General Conference, we received an offering for the mission work of the EMC. Collectively, the Conference gave just above $7,000. Then this gift was immediately matched for a total of over $14,000! What a wonderful gift! Your newly elected Board of World Missions voted to share it equally with our global conferences, in light of several urgent needs. God bless all who gave!
NEW CHURCH INAUGURATION! GRIAC (International Group of Christ’s Friends) held an inspirational celebration and thanksgiving service for the new church in Montreal, Quebec, Canada! Rev. Theo Mpetembe and his family founded Église Paix Divine (Divine Peace Church) just over a year ago in their home. The young congregation recently secured rented space and now has room to grow! Indeed, this past year they have doubled their initial group of charter members and see consistent attendance of 47. Many ITK readers joined us in praying for this need. Praise God! It was exciting to be present and join in the celebration! EMC General Superintendent Rev. Max and Mrs. Judy Edwards, and GRIAC Bishop Rev. Henri Kadima accompanied us. Numerous friends of Divine Peace Church also attended to honor and congratulate them. Several new believers were there, having been baptized at the recent camp. One impressive moment was when all the individuals who help in some way in the church
were asked to come forward. The line stretched the full width of the sanctuary! Thank God for such a great team that is excited to follow and serve Jesus!
Mission Exposure T-Shirt Design Contest! Are you creative? Do you love missions? Then we need you! We are getting organized for our mission exposure trips in 2027 and beyond, and the Board of World Missions invites EMCers to help design the T-shirt we will use for all Mission Exposure trips over the next 4 years!
The contest ends at midnight on Dec 31, 2026! The Board of World Missions members will pick the winning design. The winner will receive a scholarship for an EMC Mission Exposure trip of his/her choice up to $3,500!
