We have Issuus What do you mean by that? Good question - thanks for asking! First let me tell you what it isn’t: 1. It isn’t the Greek or Hebrew spelling of Jesus. 2. And it isn’t a typo. It’s about “The Connection” magazine. We’re making changes that are both important and exciting and we want you to know about them. I wonder, what is your ‘connection’ to “The Connection?” Maybe you are someone who reads every issue from cover to cover. Maybe you have picked through the magazine from time to time. Or, maybe you’re among those who have seen a stack of them on the back table in the church foyer, or in the rack by the bulletin board but haven’t ever read a single article. If you are that avid reader, THANK YOU! This announcement will be especially important to you. But if you are not, we’d like to invite you to take a look at “The Connection,” and now you can do so from your smart phone, tablet, or computer. We have recently begun using an online publishing company called “ISSUU” to make the magazine available to a wider audience - much wider than the print version could ever hope for. ISSUU has electronically published over 45 million documents, and boasts over 100 million unique online ‘visitors’ per month. Every day, over 20,000 new documents or publications are digitally uploaded to ISSUU.com. By digitally publishing with ISSUU, “The Connection” it is at your electronic fingertips. You can read the current issue (or past issues) by simply going to emchurch.org on your device and in the menu line, click on the words, “The Connection.” This will take you to a new page with the most recent issue right there for you to read immediately, or by clicking on the link below the current issue, you will be taken to the EMC’s archive of past issues of the magazine, and even past issues of the Kerusso newsletter. Click on the word “Stacks” and then you can choose which publication you’d like to read. The winter issue of “The Connection” will be the last print edition, and current readers of the printed magazine will receive this same information. It will be distributed in December of 2019. In addition to the possibilities of increased readership, especially among younger people who are less and less likely to get their information from a printed source, the change to digital publishing will save the EMC tens of thousands of dollars every year. Some folks will miss the printed “Connection,” but it is our conviction that this decision reflects both good stewardship, and a sincere desire to reach more and more people with the vital message of Scriptural holiness.

2019 Annual Church Conferences by Brian Hammond
for the USA Superintendents
It's that time of year again! No, I'm not talking about pumpkin spice everything being offered again. Although, I could go for a pumpkin spice latte about now. And I'm not talking about football season, although I am looking forward to seeing how Ohio State does without Meyer at the helm. I'm referring to the Annual Church Conference meetings that begin soon. I know I can speak for the Superintendents when I say we are very much looking forward to seeing each of you and your people at your ACC’s! Please take a minute and refresh your memory of the ACC procedures by looking in the EMC Discipline, Chapter 3, beginning on page 45. There are a few things I want to highlight for you pastors as you get ready for your meeting: 1. ¶233 - "All agenda items for the Annual Church Conference must be published for the congregation and the Conference Superintendent two weeks prior to the meeting." 2. ¶234 - "The pastor, or, if there is no pastor, the chair of the board of stewards, shall distribute all reports and materials for the Annual Church Conference no later than the Sunday before the conference." Please make sure this is followed. 3. ¶242 - Lay Exhorter's License. If you have those in your congregation who will be voted upon to receive a Lay Exhorter's License, please notify your Superintendent as soon as possible, preferably via email. This way we can have the license with us when we come to your meeting. 4. ¶270 Nominating Committee - "The Committee shall meet prior to the Annual Church Conference in order to prepare its report to the said church conference, and the slate of nominees shall be published at least two full weeks prior to the said church conference. Nominations for local church offices may be made in writing to the Nominating Committee up to three weeks before an Annual Church Conference. Nominations shall comply with the criterion and job descriptions listed for each office found in Policy and Procedures, Chapter 4, for nominations. There will be no further nominations made when the report of the Nominating Committee is received. In the event multiple nominations are received, the report of the Nominating Committee shall serve as a ballot for those offices contested." 5. ¶1115 Local Preacher's License - "Local Preacher's License must be renewed annually by recommendation of the individual's local church and the General Board of Ministerial Relations and by a favorable vote of the General Council." A couple more things, first your Superintendent will speak with you near your ACC date to confirm the time of the meeting and to become aware of any agenda items. Also, if you have digital copies of your reports, it would be great if you could email them to your Superintendent before the meeting. This helps us to be better prepared when we arrive. If you don't have a digital version, you can mail the paper copies of the reports to them. I pray this will be a time to celebrate the great things God has done and to look forward with anticipation to the year ahead! See you soon!

Northeast Fall Retreat | November 1st - 3rd Fall Retreat is just around the corner and we are looking forward to three exciting days of teaching, spiritual growth, fun and fellowship!
