Dr. Hamblin’s Great Grandson Visits HQ - Submitted by - Rev. James Coulston, General Secretary - Treasurer On Thursday, April 25, a special visitor came to General Headquarters. Mr. Bill Lindsay, the great-grandson of Dr. J. H. Hamblen, the founder of the EMC, visited the headquarters offices. Mr. Lindsay is the grandson of Stuart Hamblen, the singer-songwriter, radio and movie personality and son of Dr. Hamblen. The purpose of Mr. Lindsay’s visit was to get assistance in identifying and dating various denominational photographs and giving the EMC copies of those photos, as well as Hamblen family photos. It was an historical journey that included a photo of Dr. Hamblen’s father who was a Civil War veteran. Mr. Lindsay is President and CEO of Hamblen Music Company that m a n a g e s a n d p r o d u c e s S t u a r t H a m b l e n’s m u s i c (www.hamblenmusic.com). Few today recall the impact Stuart Hamblen had as a radio personality in the 1930’s into the 1950’s, and his innovation on the radio and as a singer-songwriter. One of the great impacts of Stuart Hamblen was told in newspaper headlines of Stuart’s conversion at the Billy Graham Los Angeles crusade in 1949—“Singing Cowboy Hits the Sawdust Trail”.
Also in Headquarters News - Introducing the EMC Speaker’s Pool During a recent Journey meeting, a discussion took place about choices available to pastors when they need help filling their pulpit on an occasional basis. One suggestion was the possibility of using a retired EMC pastor. In response to that suggestion, an email was sent to retired EMC pastors to see if there is enough availability and interest in being part of a 'speakers pool' to serve as occasional pulpit supply. We are pleased to announce that the pool has been started. Rev. Alan Woodie has agreed to head up the pool and is the main point of contact. We currently have five willing ministers to serve in the speaker’s pool. If you are an EMC elder and would like to participate in the pool, please contact Reverend Alan to join. All pastors needing a minister to fill in, preach revivals, etc. should also contact Reverend Alan and he will be ready to connect you with someone from the pool. Journey East - Westover, West Virginia Kingdom EMC Submitted by - Rev. Brian Hammond, USA Conference Superintendent
"Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another..." Heb.10:24-25a EMC clergy and lay people from all over the country came to Westover, WV on May 7th and 8th to be a part of the Journey East. We grew in our understanding of ministry as our leaders taught on the subjects of preaching, discipleship, leadership, evangelism, ministering to those in need, and finding our place in the pro-life movement. The DePue family shared their unique calling to the business mission field of Budapest, Hungary. Rev. Bryan Loritts brought timely messages that challenged us all. And we were encouraged in our faith as Tyler Nelson was ordained as an Elder by Rev. Max Edwards in the closing service. What a motivational and encouraging time we had in West Virginia! We thank Pastor Kevin Cain and the incredible staff at Kingdom EMC for the church's hospitality and their hosting this great event!

The fourth and final Journey meeting of 2019 took place on May 20th and 21st at Crossroads Community Church in Nampa, Idaho. EMC people from Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California, Missouri and Indiana gathered together for an opportunity to re-connect with and encourage each other. This day and a half was well spent being challenged through presentations about Biblical Geography, prayer teams, and missions both domestic and international. Much appreciation is extended to the Crossroads team for all of their preparation beforehand and serving as hosts during the Journey. Thank you to each person that served in set-up, clean-up, audio-visual, tech support, worship team, and most especially the dinner crew. Many thanks to Nikki and her helpers for preparing and serving two delicious evening meals. Thank you to each participant for making Journey West the special event that it was.
As this Journey season comes to an end, plans for Journey 2020 are beginning and being prayed over. Please join your General and Conference Superintendents in prayer, as they pray and plan for the year ahead.

EMC Camp Season Begins Indian Cave Kid’s Camp - Sutherlin, VA - June 16 - 21 Indian Cave Senior Camp - Sutherlin, VA - June 23 - 28 Southwest Family Camp - Big Lake, AZ - June 22 - 27 Your Prayer Support is Needed! This month, EMC will be hosting three camps. These dedicated events can be prime times for the Lord to work in the hearts and lives of the next generation. Camp is a wonderful opportunity where lives are changed for Jesus. The children are not the only ones in need of prayer. So much work has taken place behind the scenes in preparation for this season. Camp workers, children’s workers, youth leaders, parents, and even grandparents have all been getting ready for their part in camp week. Your prayer support is needed and appreciated. Begin praying in the days ahead of each camp date as final preparations are made and people are traveling the roads to camp. Be praying for good health and physical safety for everyone participating. Please pray for adults and children alike, that a spirit of community would fill each camp with new friendships being made, former friendships reconnecting, and families finding encouragement and being strengthened. Above all else, be praying for Holy Spirit softened hearts that will not only hear from the Lord but will follow His voice. Pray for those who have never asked Jesus to be their Savior. May men, women, moms, dads, boys, and girls come to know Jesus in a new and fresh way. Pray for each leader and teacher that they would speak and teach with the power and truth of God’s Word with boldness and love. May Jesus Christ be praised in all that is said and done. As each camp closes, pray that each camper, no matter their age, return home safely, renewed and changed because of the time they spent with Jesus.
