Foreword from the Principal This tenth anniversary marks an important milestone in the history of Haileybury Turnford. Over the past decade, our partnership with Haileybury has gone from strength to strength, rooted in a shared belief that every young person deserves access to exceptional opportunities, high aspirations and outstanding support. Since becoming an academy in 2015, Haileybury Turnford has been transformed into a school with a strong sense of identity and community. Our students are proud of their school, confident in their abilities and ambitious for their futures. This has been made possible through the dedication of our staff, the commitment of our students and families, and the steadfast support of our sponsor, Haileybury.
As you read this booklet, you will see how the partnership has enriched learning, broadened horizons and opened doors that once felt out of reach for many young people. From academic success and creative excellence to international experiences and leadership opportunities, we are immensely proud of what has been achieved together. We now look ahead to the next chapter with optimism and excitement. A Strong Educational Partnership In 2015, Haileybury Academy Trust, sponsored by Haileybury, was formed with a shared commitment to excellence, aspiration and opportunity. Over the past ten years, this commitment has grown into a strong and enduring partnership that has brought significant benefits to both schools and the wider community they serve. Together, Haileybury Turnford and Haileybury have worked collaboratively to transform life chances, broaden horizons and create a culture in which young people can thrive. Haileybury Turnford has become a truly local school with a deep-rooted sense of community. Pastoral care and inclusion sit at the heart of the school’s ethos.
Students develop a strong sense of belonging, enabling them to flourish academically, socially and personally. This is underpinned by excellent teaching, high-quality pastoral care and a rich range of co-curricular opportunities that support every student to achieve their best. During this academic year, we proudly celebrate the tenth anniversary of this partnership. It is a moment to reflect on what has been achieved together and to look forward with confidence and excitement to the next decade.

A Decade of Achievements Over the last ten years, Haileybury Turnford has achieved a series of milestones that reflect both ambition and impact. The school has been rated as a Good school by Ofsted, a judgement that recognises the significant transformation in provision and outcomes and the positive difference made to students’ life chances. Leadership and professional excellence have been recognised at a national level.
In 2023, Principal Robin Newman was awarded the Silver Winner Award for Headteacher of the Year in a Secondary School at the Pearson National Teaching Awards. In addition, other members of staff have been highly commended in national award categories in recent years, highlighting the strength and dedication of the wider staff team.
The school’s commitment to creativity is further recognised through the achievement of the Artsmark Gold Award from Arts Council England, celebrating the exceptional quality of Creative and Performing Arts provision.
Haileybury Turnford is accredited as one of only ten Lead Schools for Music by Hertfordshire Music Service, enabling meaningful collaboration with local primary schools and supporting high-quality music education across the area.
Haileybury Turnford is recognised as a high-performing school for student attendance and for the quality and inclusivity of its pastoral support, ensuring that students feel safe, valued and supported throughout their time at the school. The partnership with Haileybury has enriched the curriculum and extended opportunities well beyond the classroom, and there are plans to develop this further in the future.
Students have been able to study Latin, participate in Haileybury’s Model United Nations Conference, join the Combined Cadet Force and benefit from the world-class SciTech facilities at Haileybury. These experiences build confidence, curiosity and character, preparing students for future success. These academic enrichment and learning opportunities have been a defining feature of the last decade.
Through a partnership with the Haileybury Youth Trust, sixth form students have the opportunity to visit Uganda each year, developing global awareness and a strong sense of social responsibility. In addition, collaboration with the Britain–Australia Society Education Trust has enabled sixth form students to visit Haileybury Rendall in Darwin and Haileybury Melbourne, gaining invaluable international experience.
Over the past decade, students have progressed to a wide range of apprenticeship and university destinations, including highly competitive courses at the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford. These pathways reflect raised aspirations, strong academic preparation and effective guidance.
Alongside this, the school works in partnership with the Alban Teaching School Hub, an outstanding provider, with staff facilitating professional development and leadership programmes for colleagues across Hertfordshire.
Haileybury Turnford has also become a Leading Edge School, joining a national network of high-performing schools committed to raising achievement through collaboration and innovation.
Student outcomes remain a central measure of success.

Looking to the Future As we mark ten years of partnership, we also look ahead to a transformational period for Haileybury Turnford. Funding has been secured from the Department for Education to completely rebuild the school over the next three years. This ambitious project will transform the school estate and provide world-class facilities for future generations of students. With a strong foundation, a shared vision and a decade of success behind us, Haileybury Turnford and Haileybury
look forward to the next chapter of this partnership with optimism, ambition and pride.
