Music: Repertoire Performance Subject Guide

The study of performance can profoundly contribute to the development of self, building lifelong perspectives on engagement with music and the Arts more broadly. Through the refinement of practical performance skills, students build confidence, cultivate sophisticated perspectives on nuance, develop self-discipline, and learn to work collaboratively with others. Music has the capacity to forge links between home, education and the wider world that are ongoing beyond formal education settings. Music: Repertoire Performance develops intellectual, aesthetic and cultural understanding through the practical development of instrumental/vocal ability. Students develop skills in preparing programs of music as a member of a group, or as a soloist. This study is suited to students who have a background in the recreation and interpretation of notated musical works (AMEB for example).
