A Future Worth Shaping Together

For your Haileybury Foundation, 2025 was its most successful year so far: the most scholarships offered, the most funds raised and ending the year with our largest investment corpus to date, of almost $17M, which, with pledged bequests, might bring our estimated combined total to between $20M to $25M. Along with 2025 being another active year of events and donor recognition, we have entered the new year with much to be proud of.

Your board and executive team met in January to discuss how we begin to refine and further develop our ’50 and 50 by 30’ Strategy that we first endorsed back in

2023, including how we should shape our long-term campaign for the five years to 2030. In this article, I will share with you some of the key ideas and themes we are

At its core, our Foundation Scholarship program helps prepare young people, whose families would otherwise not be able to afford a Haileybury education, for the world and empowers them to help

As the pace of change in the world accelerates, our decisive philanthropic leadership can, with our donors’ generosity, make a difference:

• As AI and automation accelerate, capabilities such as judgement, creativity and leadership will be more highly valued

• Maintaining Haileybury’s pursuit of excellence without academic selection becomes of paramount importance

• Institutional resilience does matter - strategic partnerships and a strong Foundation corpus can ensure longevity, stability, and the capacity and confidence to innovate in education

• Indigenous education requires leadership and effective education models.

The Next Five Years: Haileybury Foundation 2030

The ideas we are considering, as we refine and frame our strategy for 2030, include:

• Running multiple initiatives in parallel, spanning teaching innovation, facilities, Indigenous education, global programs and extra-curricular support

• Increasing scholarship students to a higher percentage of the cohort, enhancing the School’s commitment to inclusion and to ensuring that opportunity is determined by talent and aspiration, not family means or postcode

• Building the Haileybury Foundation to a minimum corpus of $50 million, taking a significant step towards our ultimate goal of Vivat Haileyburia in Perpetuitas.

As we commence our new academic year, and celebrate Founders Day, I am reminded of what is best about Haileybury.

The best thing about Haileybury is you.

If you had to make a list of all the best things about Haileybury, we could probably guess what you would put on it:

• The gardens, Grenda Aquatic Centre, School plays and concerts

• The musicals, Aikman Hall, the Pipes & Drums

• The feeling of being surrounded by your close friends, cheering Haileybury to victory at Saturday morning sport

• The experience of being mentored by an amazing staff member in a classroom where brilliant teaching is consistently happening

• The pride that comes from knowing that every time a new challenge comes up, anywhere in the world, chances are a Haileyburian is helping to address it.

But what if Haileybury had to make a list of all the best things about itself? What would it say?

We’ll tell you. It’s YOU.

Because you’re the one cheering Haileybury to victory at Saturday morning sport. You’re the one supporting programs and initiatives that give our tenacious, enthusiastic students access

to the best educational experiences. You’re the one who sees an area of need on campus, or in your own corner of the world, and does what you can to fill it. You’re the one who makes all our favourite things, all of our best qualities, possible. So, thank you for being the best thing about Haileybury!

Haileybury’s Foundation Board is proud to foster a community that is united in its aspiration to give our students the best experiences, in order to ensure that Haileybury’s vision to be recognised as a great world school continues. Belonging to Something Bigger At Haileybury, giving is never just transactional—it is deeply personal. It reflects a shared belief across our community that every student deserves the chance to thrive, and that together, we can open doors that might otherwise remain closed. What continues to make the Haileybury Foundation so special is not just the generosity of our donors, but the many ways that generosity brings people together around a common purpose.

Today, there are a number of meaningful pathways for members of our community to support scholarships, each offering its own connection point while contributing to a unified goal: ensuring that talented students can access a Haileybury education, regardless of financial circumstance.

The Winged Heart Society recognises those who have made the extraordinary decision to include Haileybury in their will. These gifts are among the most powerful— creating a legacy that will shape the School for generations to come.

For those who choose to give regularly, the 1892 Circle brings together a committed group of donors whose ongoing support provides stability and certainty to our scholarship program. Their contributions underpin initiatives such as the 1892 Circle Scholarship, directly impacting students each year and allowing them to fully embrace the opportunities a Haileybury education provides.

Across the broader community, we are also seeing inspiring examples of collective giving. Alumni groups are coming together to fund Class Giving Scholarships, reconnecting year levels around a shared purpose. The School Captains Scholarship stands as a testament to student leadership and gratitude, while the Fighting Fifties Scholarship reflects the enduring camaraderie of one of Haileybury’s most spirited cohorts.

Our sporting and parent communities are equally engaged. The Haileybury Parents & Friends Keysborough (HPFK) and Haileybury Parents & Friends Castlefield (HPFC) continue to make a tangible difference through their support of scholarships—demonstrating that

giving back is a value embraced across all corners of the School.

Looking ahead, initiatives such as a Forty Years On Scholarship present an exciting opportunity for alumni to mark significant milestones by creating lasting impact for future generations.

What unites all of these groups is the real and lasting difference they make. Behind every scholarship is a student with potential—someone who, with the support of donors, can access the full breadth of a Haileybury education. Our scholarship recipients go on to thrive not only academically, but as contributors to the life of the School and, in time, as engaged alumni themselves.

Their stories are powerful. They speak of doors opened, confidence built, and futures reshaped. They are a reminder that every gift—whether given today, over time, or in the future—plays a role in something far greater than itself.

In giving, our community is not only supporting students; it is strengthening the very fabric of Haileybury. And in doing so, it offers every donor something equally meaningful in return: the opportunity to change a life forever.
