Data Analytics Subject Guide
Data is fast becoming the commodity of the 21st century. Organisations of all sizes collect vast amounts of data about their customers and business operations. Students develop skills in collecting, analysing, manipulating and interpreting data. They embark on a large, studentdriven project to investigate a research question of their choice and present their findings as an infographic or dynamic data visualisation. These skills prepare students for dealing with complex data and communicating their findings to a target audience. Data Analytics provides students with the opportunity to engage with data and develop skills in identifying patterns and trends that can unlock hidden potential and make businesses ‘smarter’. Students will further enhance their skills in collecting, analysing, manipulating and interpreting data. Students use the skills they have developed in analysing data to answer a research question and present their findings visually.
