How To Cure Your Putting Woes Too often players get caught up in the mechanics of a stroke or the slope of the green. I would encourage you to trust your eyes for the distance or break you see. Try to visualize the ball going into the hole and trust that your stroke will produce the necessary distance to get the ball there. Pro Tip: Take your setup on a 15-foot putt; before you make a stroke, turn your eyes directly at the hole. Hit this putt! You’ll be amazed at the results this drill will produce! You might find that your eyes teach your body how to hit the putt the right length.

Tennis SUPER BOWL ROUND ROBIN Saturday, February 1st 10 AM - 12 PM You don’t need to wait until Super Bowl Sunday to know who will win. This format will form two teams based on the two teams who are playing in the big game. The teams will then play matches against each other. The team who wins the most matches will be the winner. SERVE + ONE When you are on the court next time to play doubles notice how often the tempo of the point is often set not on the serve or the service return; it is on the first shot the serving team makes after the serve. Very rarely do we hit a strong enough serve to win the point outright. We usually have to hit several shots to win the point. A good doubles team will make that the key shot of the point. The serving team will use the serve to set up the second shot, much like an approach shot. The returning team will try to make the serving team hit a defensive first shot. To make that second shot an offensive shot, be sure to move your feet to ensure you are in a position to get your weight into the shot – the weight transfer is the key.

Equestrian I
It is Beach ride season at the Equestrian Center! Don’t miss an opportunity to ride the breathtaking sandy beaches of the island before turtle season begins in March! February is the last month until October that we will be able to ride alongs the surf. All beach rides are $120 for Members year round. Call the Equestrian Center directly for booking to avoid nonmember fees, 843-341-8191. Lessons are available Tuesdays through Saturdays beginning this month. Lastly, we are excited to welcome our newest staff member, Meredith O’Connell. Meredith graduated from the University of Kentucky in the Spring of 2019 with a degree in Equine Science and Rehabilitation. She is originally from Pennsylvania and moved to the Lowcountry where she began her equine career at Palmetto Bluff. Meredith will be assisting with the trail program and horse care and maintenance. We are happy to have her on our team here at Haig Point! The Equestrian Center Staff
