Hadleigh’s Heartfelt Response: Coming Together for Southport There cannot be anybody in our community of +DGOHLJK ZKR ZDVQoW KRUULƮHG E\ WKH NLOOLQJ RI three little girls in Southport, followed by the heinous rioting around the country. I cannot imagine what the family and friends of those \RXQJ RQHV DUH JRLQJ WKURXJK LWoV DW WLPHV OLNH these when I feel helpless. However, what followed was the unfolding of communities who pulled together, came together, cleaned up the carnage that rioters left behind, and marched in peaceful solidarity to demonstrate love not hate. It was truly moving. As individuals, we may indeed feel powerless, but as a community we can be

VWURQJHU LQ RXU DELOLW\ WR HƬHFW FKDQJH To this end, I approached a few businesses in Hadleigh, including EACH, The Thrift Shop and the Co-op and have sent a collection of good TXDOLW\ ERRNV WR\V DQG JDPHV WR WKUHH RI WKH hospitals where the victims of the Southport DWWDFN ZHUH VHQW , DP DERXW WR VHQG EDE\ clothes to the Hart Hub in Southport, as WKH FHQWUH ZKHUH WKH DWWDFN WRRN SODFH LV D centre for new mums, and a box of gifts to a 6RXWKSRUW FKXUFK LQ WKH NQRZOHGJH WKDW WKH\ will be dispersed appropriately within the community. It is the least we can do.
Meanwhile, we were sent this beautiful card from a 9 year old girl who is receiving treatment in Manchester Children’s Hospital. It demonstrates the true meaning of sharing the love. Our hearts go out to the people of Southport and indeed any community in need of hope. Sarah Thompson
