Thank you again for everything that you have contributed over this last quarter.

Here we are again, closing another quarter – the months seem to fly by faster than ever.

Project Completions

Firstly, congratulations to the team at 120 Balmain on the successful completion of the project. Finishing a project is always a significant milestone as we know and the project looks fantastic! Thank you to the entire project team and those across the business who supported its delivery. And looking ahead, good luck to both Fortis and VSB teams who are due to reach PC in Q3.

New Business

In terms of new business updates, please note that we are actively pursuing significant projects within the Melbourne CBD, continuing to explore opportunities in the Data Centre sector, and are excited by the potential to expand our footprint into South Australia. While these opportunities are competitive, they position us well for continued growth.

Promotions

Congratulations also to the 41 employees who were promoted as part of this year’s performance and development process. This was a fantastic outcome and reinforces our commitment to developing our people from within. In fact, 50% of all recruitment over the past 12 months has been filled through internal promotions, demonstrating the career opportunities across our business.

Speaking of….developing our future leaders continues to be a priority. Our current Leadership Course is halfway through its 6-month course, with 15 employees participating, and the feedback has been extremely positive. We’ll be running the program again in 2027 to continue investing in leadership capability across the business.

Subcontractor Night

Thank you to our Hacer team who attended our Annual Subcontractor Night. With more than 200 attendees, it was a fantastic opportunity to acknowledge the subcontractors who play such an important role in the successful delivery of our projects. Strong Relationships remains as one of Hacer’s core values!

The Yard

Many of you will have noticed the successful relocation of our yard. As part of this transition, we’d like to remind everyone to continue using Fiona for purchasing requests and inventory management to ensure equipment and materials are tracked and managed efficiently across the business.

Charlie Chisholm

We’d like to thank everyone for the incredible support shown during last month’s fundraising efforts for Charlie and his family. The generosity shown across the business was truly humbling and is a reminder that community is one of Hacer’s greatest strengths.

Master Builders Awards Night

Lastly, we’re proud to share that both St Clare and Bennetts Lane have been nominated for the 2026 Master Builders Awards. Congratulations to everyone involved in delivering these outstanding projects. We’ll be sure to keep everyone updated following the awards night in August.

Project Updates 01

HOME ALBERT PARK

Topped out back in May and not slowing down since. The curtain wall is climbing Levels 13-14, windows are locking in Level 12, and the internals are marching through Levels 10-11. Ground Floor and Level 1 are standing by for energisation (just waiting on those elusive meters), with client defect inspections kicking off in July.

The two big Favco tower cranes are now up and running, working harder than a Monday morning coffee machine, feeding a sizeable crew of structure legends who are already chewing through the works at pace. These cranes are absolute show offs too, somehow defying gravity while sitting proudly on their bright red offset grillages like they own the joint. On the ground (and below it), the core jumpforms are up and absolutely flying, while the basement slabs are stacking in nicely. Momentum is strong, the basement is racing back toward ground level, and everything’s humming along like a well-oiled machine. All signs point to another cracking project, on programme, full of energy, and setting itself up nicely for success (touch wood… and maybe a bit of concrete too).

120 BALMAIN

Practical Completion achieved ahead of schedule. The job looks outstanding and is a real credit to everyone involved. Huge shoutout to the entire team, this one’s something to be proud of. A sharp looking terracotta façade wraps the building, with quality spaces throughout from office floors to EOT and lobby areas. A top result all round, backed by a strong push from both site and HQ teams.

ASSEMBLE VSB

Nearly at the finish line. Apartment defecting is basically done, and common areas are now under the microscope. Ground floor landscaping is turning it from “construction site” to “actually looks like a building.” Bonus highlight: the heritage chimney scaffold is coming down soon, finally revealing months of TLC underneath.

437 ST KILDA ROAD (CBUS)

Full steam ahead. Two of four hydrostatic slabs are done, the western core is rising, and both tower cranes are doing their daily dance. Superstructure is lining up for a mid-July start –an exciting milestone for the project. Safe to say, this one’s humming along nicely.

We’re in the final lap here, with energisation and defecting charging ahead across both buildings. The penthouses are getting the VIP treatment with custom joinery, stone and all the fancy finishes going in. Outside, civil works are nearly wrapped up, plants are moving into their new Level 3 homes, and Building A is about to get a well-earned façade glow-up.

CLARENDON STREET

Plenty happening here with façade works, fitout and upper levels all pushing ahead. Slab extensions are done (tick), which means rough-ins and windows are cracking on. Fitout is nearly wrapped up to Level 5, while Levels 7 and 8 are getting their glow-up with upgraded design and façade works.

SAMMA PLACE

Trackworks have absolutely flown out of the blocks and haven’t taken their foot off the gas since. Bulk excavation is nearly wrapped up, with piling close behind. The first tower crane base is in, the second is hot on its heels, and the first of three cranes is set to rise in July (finally giving us something tall to point at). This will mark a big milestone with I&D mobilisation and structure works kicking off. All in all, a cracking start and things are shaping up nicely for what’s ahead.

JAM FACTORY STAGE 2

Big moves lately. Retention piling is complete, bulk excavation is underway, and the first foundation piles are in the ground. The second half of the year is shaping up to be a busy one with cranes going up, structure kicking off, and even hotel prototype rooms coming to life. Procurement is flying with trades locked in and key packages out to tender. The future St Regis is starting to take shape (on paper and in the ground).

Sustainability & Reconciliation

We’re excited to share continued progress in sustainability and industry recognition this quarter, with a range of initiatives driving better environmental outcomes across our projects. It’s great to see these efforts gaining traction and being recognised externally. A huge effort from everyone involved!

NAIDOC Week Colouring Competition!

In honour of NAIDOC Week, we’re inviting the little artists in your family to take part in our colouring competition!

Children aged 12 years and under can enter for the chance to win a $100 Yo-Chi voucher. We can’t wait to see everyone’s colourful creations.

Winter Walks

Our Winter Walks are back, and we had a fantastic turnout for our first walk of the season.

The walks are open to everyone across the business and are a great way to shake off the Melbourne winter blues, get some fresh air before work, and meet colleagues from different projects and teams.

We meet at 6:30am once a month between now and R U OK? Day in September.

July is a great opportunity to check in on our financial wellbeing.

We’re hosting an optional online information session with SimplyGreen on Thursday 16th July at 3:30pm, where you’ll learn how salary packaging and novated leasing may help you save money.

Whether you’re new to Hacer or simply haven’t explored the benefits available through our corporate plan, this session will provide an overview of what’s available to you and your family.

Finally, a reminder that our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provider, Acacia, offers confidential financial counselling in addition to wellbeing support. If you’re experiencing financial pressure or would simply like some independent guidance, this service is available to all employees at no cost.

Fareshare

Food insecurity is a serious issue for many people across our country right now, and we were grateful to play our small part in helping out. Volunteering with Fareshare Australia is something we have done proudly for the past 6 years - a not-for-profit organisation that rescues surplus food and cooks free, nutritious meals for people experiencing hardship across Australia.

This year we intentionally coincided our volunteer shift with National Reconciliation Week, and the 6,126 meals prepared went towards “Meals for the Mob”, supporting First Nations communities. During the session, we learnt that 50% of First Nations households in remote areas experience food insecurity, and only 4 in 10 First Nations people in remote areas are consistently able to access healthy and nutritious food. Charities like FareShare are incredibly inspiring and play such an important role in bringing communities together.

Hacer NRL Corporate Box

19 of the Hacer Group Social Club’s finest headed to the NRL in a corporate box to watch PT’s beloved Melbourne Storm take on the Newcastle Knights.

After watching PT inspire the players with a few high fives before the game we had a delightful 3 course Mexican buffet and drinks whilst the Storm obviously still feeling inspired won by 2 points in an absolute try fest!

After the game we headed to The Corner in Richmond but not before watching Sam Whelan wait outside the rooms to try and get photos with the players as they left!
