The disclosure by Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed of a sprawling farm reportedly owned byPresidentIrfaanAlihasrevived concerns over transparency in public office, with former Speaker of the National Assembly and Senior Counsel Ralph Ramkarran andAPNUMemberofParliament, Dr Terrence Campbell asserting that Guyana must strengthen its anti-corruptionframework.
Writing in his latest
Conversation Tree column titled 'TheFarm,'Ramkarranarguedthat while there is nothing inherently wrong with presidents or politicians owning businesses or acquiring wealth, the absence of robust transparency laws leaves public officials vulnerable to persistent allegations and public suspicion.
Mohamed recently revealed details of a large, modern agricultural operation in the Linden-Soesdyke area, claiming it is owned by President Ali. The opposition leader questioned the scaleoftheproperty'sdevelopment and the source of financing for the multimillion-dollaroperation.
PresidentAli has responded by saying he acquired the property beforebecomingpresidentandthat its development has been funded throughloans.Hehasalsodisputed claims about the farm's size and value.
But Ramkarran said the controversy highlights a much deeperproblem.
According to the former PPP executive, Guyana's integrity commission remains incapable of providing meaningful public accountability because asset declarations filed by public officials remain secret and the commissionlacksinvestigativeand prosecutorialpowers.
He described the existing systemasineffective,notingthatin countries such as Germany, financial declarations by senior publicofficialsareaccessibletothe public.
Ramkarran reminded readers thathehasbeencallingsince2012 for sweeping reforms, including stronger anti-corruption, antibribery, ethics and transparency legislation. He said those calls ultimately contributed to his resignation from the People's Progressive Party after more than five decades of membership and over40yearsinitsleadership.
He said Guyana's rapid economic expansion, fuelled by unprecedented government spending and oil revenues, has s
opportunities for corruption while transparency safeguards have failedtokeeppace.
"As government spending increased, and the economy develops, opportunities for corruption will continue to increase," Ramkarran contended, adding that allegations of corruption and secrecy will only multiply unless stronger legal safeguardsareintroduced.
Theseniorcounselstressedthat his warning extends beyond the current controversy, saying all politicians involved in private business would benefit from stronger transparency laws that protectbothpublicconfidenceand publicofficialsthemselves.
Ramkarran pointed to the UnitedStates,wherepresidentsare legallyrequiredundertheEthicsin Government Act to disclose their financial interests. He referenced recent disclosures by President Donald Trump, noting that public debateoverthepresident'sbusiness earnings is possible precisely becausemandatorydisclosurelaws exist.
He also examined the concept of blind trusts, explaining that
several former U S presidents placed assets under independent management to minimise conflicts of interest, while others were not requiredtobecauseofthenatureof theirholdings.
Drawing another international comparison, Ramkarran cited South Africa's experience, where corruption scandals surrounding former President Jacob Zuma eventually led to his political downfall despite the existence of specialised anti-corruption agencies.
He warned that even President Cyril Ramaphosa has faced c
demonstrating that institutions alone are insufficient unless they areeffectiveandtrusted.
For Guyana, Ramkarran w a r n e d t h a t w i t h o u t comprehensive legislation to enforce transparency and ethical conduct, recurring controversies over politicians' assets including the current debate surrounding President Ali's farm will continue to erupt, further eroding public trust.

The Integrity Commission law must be tightened to make public certain aspects of the declarations of those holding high public office," Campbell a businessman declared.

During this timeframe, the domestic workforce expanded by 122,389 individuals, climbing from 246,881 to 369,270 employed persons, while average monthly incomes
rose for both salaried and self-employedworkers. Furthermore, young workers are diversifying away from traditional sectors.
M o d e r n y o u t h employment is heavily concentrated in emerging fields, with wholesale and retail trade, construction, public administration, manufacturing, and education collectively accounting for 60 5% of youthjobs.

The president said he has all the related documents, from the land to the bustling four-footed and two-winged presences that live so sweetly on his farmland. Thefirstisthe expensiveWalesGas-to-Energyprojectthatcannotfindits footing, gather some momentum to get to the finish line. The second is the Belle View pump station project that couldnotbearitsownweight,nevergotofftheground. In both instances, the president seems to have washed his hands,morepleasedtoseekcoverintheshadows.
ThedifferenceinthosetwoprojectsandtheLongCreek farmisthatthetwoprojectsaregovernment-initiated,while thefarmhashispersonalfingerprintswrittenalloverit. He has quickly admitted to ownership, since to do otherwise would have left him in an indefensible position. His admissionhasledtocallsforfulldisclosureonallaspectsof his ownership of that farm, whatever its acreage and its flockofriches.
Weatthispaperencouragethepresidenttodiscloseall the instruments of his landholding, his accumulations of various physical and animal assets, and his past arrangementsforthefinancingofeverythingrelatedtothat farm. Hehasanopportunitytosetoneofthebestexamples forleadershiptransparency PresidentAlishouldnotlimit himself to words alone. He submits the backups for his farm,openshimselftohonestscrutiny Hewilleitherriseor hewillcrumble.
The recent Preliminary Senior Promotion List published by the Teaching ServiceCommissionandthe School Boards Secretariat has sparked widespread concernaboutthecredibility of the application process. With that said, I write to express my concerns regarding the publication of a preliminary list that appears to contain significant irregularities and the unfairness of the measures a teacher has to taketoseekredress.
Firstly, teachers have been disadvantaged by the late publication of these senior vacancies These senior vacancies were advertised only after an approximate three-year period during which no senior vacancies were advertised. Since teachers’ pensions are calculated on their last substantive position,manyteachersseek promotions to headship and
deputyheadshiptoacquirea higherpensionastheyretire. In the past, once a teacher wasnearingretirement,heor she was promoted to f a c i l i t a t e t h e aforementioned However, the non-publication of vacancies for that extended period, from 2023 to 2026, hasresultedinmanyteachers who were eligible for senior promotion to retire without being promoted This situation can be seen as a great injustice to teachers, manyofwhomhavegivenin excessofthirty(30)yearsof service.
Secondly, many eligible teachers were not given the opportunity to apply for the vacanciesadvertisedatsome of the secondary schools. The criteria that once qualified a Senior Master/MistressoraHeadof Department to apply for a Deputy Head position at a senior secondary school changed which restricted these categories of teachers

from applying for a position that was once opened to them.Thenewcriteriastated that a teacher had to be a deputy head or a head of a junior secondary school to applyforthatposition.Many find this to be preposterous since in the past, these very teachers were promoted to these schools and have served with distinction Additionally,theabsurdityis evidentintheadministrative appointmentsofaselectfew from junior secondary schools to serve in those same leadership positions. Also, many teachers have expressed dissatisfaction withthecurrentpointsystem which awards one point for every five trained years of service.
Many teachers are of the view that even though the Te a c h i n g S e r v i c e Commission and the School Boards Secretariat had three years to execute a seamless promotion exercise, they have executed a promotion
exercise far from seamless, andwhichmayresultincourt proceedings similar to July, 2015.
Next,Icontinuewiththe challenges teachers experienced during the application process The applicationswerecompleted online,andaftersubmission, there was a pop-up message confirming the successful submission of the application. Many teachers took screenshots of this message since they did not receive any other confirmation However, when teachers enquired about their non-appointment to schools, they were reportedly told that there is noapplicationfortheminthe system,andthattheyneedto produce an email from TSC which they did not receive. admirationforIrfaan,hehas lostit.(Why?)Iamreferring to his recent press conference in which he appointedKwameMcCoyto direct (his campaigns and pressconferences).”
To Freddie, “Irfaan has gone mad. The gods have destroyed him. Of course, the gods rendered him incompetent before sending him off to Hades How perceptive is Ali? The question is he isn’t at all.” (Wow! Freddie at his infantilebest!)
So, where is Freddie now? He is sandwiched betweenthesaidIrfaanAlias president, and an elevated Kwame,whomandateswhat Freddie has to write. By the way, this man even was offended by the very visage andphysiognomyofKwame McCoy, as he opined that “Of all the ‘lovely faces and bodies and talent in the PPP, Irfaan chose McCoy to host hispressconference.(and)In doing so, I feel personally insulted by Irfaan (as) McCoy (with his bad looks and pygmy IQ) was charged forattackingmeafterhiscodefendant, Jason Abdulla gave a confession statement to the police, implicating McCoy (And yet) Magistrate Judy Latchman

One of my maternal great-great-grandmothers, MollyMillington,wasborn, raised, and died at #12 Village,WestCoastBerbice. She was part of the first generation of formerly enslaved Africans Many descendants of Molly, along with other Afro-Guyanese, lived in #12 Village until 1964,whentheywereforced to leave due to racial strife. Lives were lost, properties weredestroyed,andyearsof trust were eroded. Cyrus Britton was among the first killed, and since that time, Afro-Guyanese have not lived in #12; only our deceasedrelativesareburied there.
This was indeed an unfortunate situation that should not have occurred. Although it was traumatic andpainful,Iwillnotreferto it as “The #12 Village

However, in analysing what happened, we must do so within context and avoid demonising any community orgroupofpeople. There is currently an ongoing debate regarding the so-called “Wismar Massacre.” I see this as a propaganda piece. The term “massacre” typically evokes an image of mass murder; however, some theorists argue that the act of killing evenasinglepersoncanalso beclassifiedasamassacre. If the Wismar event is classifiedasamassacre,then the incident at #12 Village, West Coast Berbice, should be considered the same There seems to be a deliberate effort to defame a community or a particular group of people by altering historical facts or ignoring relevantcontext.Therefore,I will now address some additionalcrimescommitted against Afro-Guyanese duringthesameperiod. The empirical record is clear: Afro-Guyanese suffered grievously during thisperiod,oftenatthehands o f I n d o - G u y a n e s e perpetrators: The “Son Chapman” Tragedy: On 6th July, 1964, the motor vessel “Son Chapman” was blown up on the Demerara River, killing 43 Afro-Guyanese
passengers This was a deliberate act of violence, not an accident, and it claimed predominantly African lives. The central issue is that this tragedy is often mentioned only in passing—if at all—by those who frame the conflict as one-sided.
Mahaicony: During the period from June to August 1964, the Mahaicony District became a “zone of conflict.”Availableevidence demonstrates that “Afro Guyanese, predominantly, were the victims of terrorist violence.” Among the victims:
1. Eustace Waldron and Joseph Nedd were killed by machine-gunfire
2 George Halley, Sydney Halley, Neil Bascomb, Royston Bourne, Kenneth Gibbons and Percy Richmond all of Strath Campbell were reported missing from “aback of Mortice.” Four were later confirmed dead and two survived
3. Ivan Chung was shot dead
4 Ernest D’Aguiar’s body riddled with gunshots and tied to a log withbarbedwire—waslater foundfloating Abary Creek, On 23rd August, 1964, four AfroGuyanese farmers, Albert

Those who assert that Afro-Guyanese were involved in ethnic cleansing m u s t c o n f r o n t a n inconvenient truth: IndoGuyanese reside in nearly every African village and community, except Baracara, Canje River
Conversely, many villages and communities are exclusively Indo-Guyanese. If ethnic cleansing had truly occurred at the hands of Afro-Guyanese, this demographic reality would notexist.
The events of 1963 and 1964 resulted in the permanent abandonment of legitimate properties in the Mahaicony and West BerbiceDistricts Thisreviewdoesnotaim

Ofequalconcern,thenon-appointmentof teachers to some of the advertised vacancies isquestionable.Thishasinevitablygivenrise tospeculationthatthevacanciesmaylaterbe filledadministratively,thusunderminingthe integrityoftheprocess.Itisthereforefairto ask: Why was no one appointed to those schools? After all of the injustices faced by teachers, the School Boards Secretariat has publishedaformwhichIhaveattachedtothis letter,thatrequiresteacherswhoareseeking redressthroughthereviewprocesstoprovide informationsuchasthedatesofappointments as a Trained Teacher, Graduate Teacher and Senior Teacher along with the qualifications ofthesuccessfulapplicant.
This information is neither publicly known nor ordinarily accessible to applicants, so how are teachers expected to accesssuchinformationaboutthesuccessful applicant to appeal the decision This requirementisreportedlyperceivedbymany teachers as an unnecessary obstacle to seekingredress.
In closing, I humbly offer the following recommendations, and call on the Teaching Service Commission and the School Boards
Secretariat to implement measures that will restoretrustintheirabilitytoconductfairand crediblepromotions:
·Inconductingthereviewofapplications, teachers whose applications were not registeredinthesystemshouldbeconsidered forappointmentsoncetheyhaverequesteda review,andcanproducethescreenshotofthe message which confirmed the successful submission of their application. No teacher should be penalised for technical or administrativeissuesbeyondtheircontrol.
Teachers who have satisfied the published eligibility requirements for promotionshouldbeassessedsolelyonmerit, andshouldnotbeprejudicedbytechnicalor administrative issues beyond their control. Teachers deserve an application process that isconsistentandfair
· The advertisement of senior vacancies be published twice a year to ensure that schools are fully equipped with substantive administrativestaff.

A 20-year-old man was on Friday remanded to prison for murdering his friend and workmate, 27year-oldNareshSeecharran.
T h e s u s p e c t , Parmeshwar Lionel, of Lochaber Village, West Canje Berbice, appeared at theWhimMagistrate’sCourt before Magistrate Tuana Hardy,wherehewascharged withmurder Itisallegedthat on 6th July, 2026, Lionel, called ‘Small Man’ , murderedSeecharran,called ‘Cat’ at Port Mourant Village,Corentyne.
He was not required to pleadtotheindictablecharge and was remanded to prison awaiting his next court appearance on 31st July, 2026 Seecharran was a construction worker who resided at Williamsburg, Corentyne and Glasgow, EastBankBerbice.
Police reports stated that the father of one was fatally stabbed by the suspect after they were both among several other friends who wereallconsumingalcohol.
The incident took place at Haswell, Port Mourant. According to information reaching this publication,
and argument brewed between the two friends, which escalated to an altercation. Seecharran was then stabbed to the neck by Lionel.
The deadly incident occurred late last Sunday evening, based to police reports.
Seecharan’s mother, Radha, of Glasgow Village, told this publication in an interview last week said she last heard from her son on Sunday afternoon via phone call. “Throughtheendof2025,therewasover US$55B in the cost bank, of which US$51B had been recovered. As I mentioned in my prior talking points, US$4.5B was yet to be recovered by ExxonMobil Guyana Limited anditsco-venturers.”
Atfirstglance,thisappearstobewelcome news. Once most of the accumulated costs have been recovered, Guyana should begin receiving a larger share of the oil revenues, ratherthanthepaltry14.5%oftotalrevenues itcurrentlyreceives.
However, there is a major mystery concerning the actual amount of oil revenue generatedthroughtheendof2025.
According to the Bank of Guyana’s (BoG) reports, total oil revenue through the end of 2025 was approximately US$61.3 billion,seeTableVIIintheBoGreportsfrom 2020 to 2025. Under the Stabroek Block ProductionSharingAgreement,upto75%of oilrevenuemaybeallocatedtocostrecovery Therefore, if Exxon and its partners recovered US$51 billion in costs, total oil revenuewouldhavehadtobeatleast:
US$51billion÷75%=US$68billion
This is at least US$6.7 billion more than theUS$61.3billionindicatedbytheBankof Guyana’sreports.
Guyana’s current share amounts to approximately 14.5% of total oil revenue.
Applying that percentage to the unexplained US$6.7 billion difference produces approximately US$972 million almost US$1billion.
To put the matter plainly: has Guyana been shortchanged by almost US$1 billion, even under the meagre 14.5% share of revenueitcurrentlyreceives.
Thepubliccannotdeterminewhetherthe Government of Guyana and the oil companies are using different production volumes, different realised oil prices, different accounting periods or different definitions of revenue. Any of these could contributetothediscrepancies.

Another young life has been extinguished. Another family is left shattered.
The alleged murder of 20-year-old pregnant Kerriana Stanford is not merely another crime statistic; it is another indictment of a society where domestic and interpersonal violence continues to spiral with terrifying regularity.
Too many disputes are ending in bloodshed, exposing a dangerous culture of rage, possessiveness and disregard for human life. Arrests and prosecutions, while necessary, are no substitute for prevention.
Schools, churches, communities and families must become active partners in confronting abusive behaviour before it turns fatal. Authorities must strengthen intervention systems, protect vulnerable victims and ensure warning signs are never ignored. Guyana cannot become numb to these recurring horrors. Every senseless killing demands not only justice for the dead, but urgent action to protect the living.

The story of the month, and perhaps of the year, has been President Irfaan Ali's farm at Long Creek, an area off the Soesdyke-Linden Highway Readersmaywellaskwhata farm has to do with oil and gas and the Resource Curse. The answer is simple: everything.
Not because the farm produces oil, but because every oil-producing country eventually confronts the same question: are its institutions stronger than its politicians?
Guyana is confronted with that question much sooner than expected Ironically, the first real test has come not from the Stabroek Block, the Natural Resource Fund or ExxonMobil. It has come fromafarm.
Let me say too what this columnisnotabout.Itisnot about whether President IrfaanAliisentitledtoowna farm. He is. Nor is it about whetheragriculturedeserves encouragement.
It does Any sensible person would welcome greater investment in food production and agroprocessing if Guyana is to avoid becoming hopelessly dependent on oil But President Ali needs to appreciate that he is no ordinary investor, let alone farmer
Following his return fromSt.Lucia,PresidentAli issued a lengthy video presentation in which he deniedwrongdoing,spokeof bank loans, insisted that he had received no special treatment and sought to discredit the source of the allegations, Azruddin Mohamed, Leader of the Opposition.

Even a President's factbased explanation is not an investigation. Nor can it be.
The President cannot be investigator, witness, advocate and judge in the same cause Public confidence is strengthened not when questions are answered by the person whose conduct is in issue, but when those answers are independently tested and verified.
The President says that the farm was financed by bankloans.Fine.Thenletthe documents speak. Was he using the term "bank" loosely to include the PPPleaning New Building Society? When were the loans approved? To whom were they granted? Were they made to the President personally or to a company?
What security was offered? When was each parcel of land acquired? Was it purchased, leased or allocated?
Where is the evidence that public resources were not employed, or that the authority of the Presidency wasnotinvokedtofacilitate, if not finance, the project? These are not hostile questions.
These questions are not being asked by an investigator, auditor or banker but by ordinary citizensandtheyhavearight toanswers.
If the President is right, independent scrutiny will vindicatehim.Ifheiswrong, the country has as much a righttoknowashehasaduty to disclose The video proved neither innocence nor misconduct. But for the holderofthehighestofficein theland,sworntoupholdthe Constitution and the rule of law, it fell well short of the standard any constitutional democracy is entitled to expect In a democracy, Presidents do not certify their own conduct Independentinstitutionsdo. That brings us to the issue of oil and gas governance.
Oil has changed everything What once passed as ordinary political controversy has become a test of institutional strength and public accountability
The 2026 Budget granted generous tax concessions to
agriculture and agroprocessing. Once the Head of State owns a substantial agricultural enterprise, the issue ceases to be merely economic.Itbecomesoneof governance.
How are conflicts of interest identified, disclosed andmanaged?Howdoesthe public know that national policy was not a cloak for privatebenefit?
International examples show that the Resource Curse does not begin with missing billions, corrupt petroleum contracts or white-elephant projects Thoseareitslatersymptoms. It begins when institutions yieldtopower,transparency gives way to official assurances and presidential videos replace independent verification.

It is about whether constitutional office holders are sufficiently independent toplacecountryaboveparty, the Constitution above political convenience, the public interest above partisan loyalty, and yes, a stipendabovetheirintegrity
Inhisvideopresentation, President Ali repeatedly invoked the Integrity Commission as if its mere existence answered the concerns that have arisen. It does not An Integrity Commissionisjudgednotby itsstatutoryexistencebutby its credibility, its independence and the confidence it inspires A commission that is neither seen nor heard, and whose work rarely informs public debate, cannot resolve questions of this magnitude simply by being invoked. Institutions earn public confidence by what they do, not by being invoked from thepodium.
That is the larger issue confronting Guyana Oil wealth does not merely test governments; it tests institutions. It asks whether t h e y p o s s e s s t h e independence, courage and authority to examine those wh

wer, including the President himself If they do not, politicalconfidencereplaces c o n s t i t u t i o n a l accountability, and the Resource Curse ceases to be an academic theory and becomesanationalreality
Toomuchisnowatstake for Guyana to rely on trust alone. Oil has raised the value of public office. It has alsoraisedthepriceofweak governance.
Every major decision involving those who exercise public power will now be examined through the lens of conflicts of interest, institutional independence, and yes, misuseofpublicoffice.
Whether intentionally or otherwise, the Ali Administration is helping to define the kind of oilproducing country Guyana will become. Long Creek is not the beginning of the story It is merely the latest chapter The earlier chapters lie in the administration of S t a t e l a n d s , t h e concentration of executive power and the weakening of institutions.

Christopher Ram’s responsetomycolumnrests almost entirely on a misrepresentation of what I wrote. He says that I have treated him as though he were accusing the president ofcriminalconduct.Ididno suchthing.
My column never suggested that Mr Ram had alleged the commission of a criminal offence. But one cannot demand an independent investigation into “every aspect” of the president’s agricultural enterprise without some basis for doing so Investigations are not convened without a basis. So, what is this basis if not the possibility of something being amiss? Is it purely for transparency? And is there not already a basis for transparency via integrity
legislation, however deficient that may be? What thenisthebasisforacallfor acommissionofinquiry?
On what basis does he seekaninquiry?If,thereisa basis, it is he, not me, that
bears the responsibility of identifyingtheevidencethat givesrisetothoseconcerns.
Theneedforsuchabasis and producing the prima facieevidencewerethepoint ofmycolumn.
Mr Ram also suggests t h a t I c o n f u s e d accountability with criminality by referring to concepts such as burden of proofandaprimafaciecase. Again, he misstates my argument.
Does he not know that the principle that he who asserts must prove is not confined to criminal courts?
It is one of the oldest principles of justice
Whether one is asking a court to grant relief, or for someone to commence proceedings, or the State to establish a Commission of Inquiry with coercive powers, the person making such demands must first demonstrate a factual basis fordoingso.
A Commission of Inquiry is not a device for discovering whether groundsforconcernexist. It is established because credible grounds already exist.Andthiswasoneofthe central arguments that I madeconcerningRam’scall.
Mr Ram says he merely asks questions But questionsarenotevidence.A lengthy catalogue of questions,howeverskillfully drafted,cannotsubstitutefor a prima facie case
Otherwise, anyone could frameaseriesofspeculative questionsaboutanypublicor private official and then insist that the State establish an inquiry to determine whether any of them might betrue.
As I said, that is not accountability Itisafishing expedition.

But it does not follow that a higher standard of transparencytranslatesintoa lower legal threshold for establishing a Commission of Inquiry Even the highest office-holder is entitled to the protection of due process. The principle that investigations should be based on evidence rather than suspicion applies equally to Presidents, judges, ministers and
ordinarycitizens.
If occupying high office aloneissufficienttojustifya Commission of Inquiry whenever questions are raised, then every President, Prime Minister or Cabinet Ministercouldfacerepeated public inquiries simply because political opponents framedenoughquestions.
Finally, Mr Ram says that if there is another independent mechanism, he would welcome it That concession is revealing. It demonstrates that the real issue is no longer whether a Commission of Inquiry is warranted,butwhetherthere should be some form of investigation.
Yet even then, the same principleapplies.Beforeany independent investigative body is asked to exercise its powers, there must first be
establishing a basis for that investigation Mr Ram should state the evidence to doto.
The law does n
authorise investigations simply because questions havebeenasked.Nordoesit
machinery of the State to be invoked in the hope that evidence may eventually be found.

corporal from Rosignol, West CoastBerbice.
Investigatorssaidbothvehicles entered the intersection and allegedly failed to stop before colliding.
London was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at the Georgetown Public Hospital CorporationbutdiedonJuly7.
Thepolicecorporal,whotested negative for alcohol, has been placed under close arrest. CCTV footage from the intersection has alreadybeenreviewed.

The Omai Gold Mine produced over 3.7 million ouncesofgoldfrom1993to 2005, ceasing operations when gold was below US$400 per ounce. Since returning to Guyana's miningsectorin2020,Omai through its subsidiary Avalon Gold Exploration Inc , has identified 2 5 millionouncesofgoldinthe indicated category at the historicOMAIGoldproject. The company holds 100% interest in the project which hosts two orogenic gold deposits:WenotandGilt.
Ellinghamnotedthatthe Wenotdepositwillgrowinto a“superpit.”
“That thing is two and a half kilometres long. The constraining pit in that resource is over a kilometre wideandwehaveitdownto half a kilometre, 500 metres down, ” Ellingham explained.
She added that because of the enormous size of the deposit,asignificantamount ofdrillingisstillrequiredto filltheremaininggaps,even though the project has alreadyreachedanestimated resource of eight million ouncesinbothindicatedand inferredcategories.
“We don't have to make thisanybigger Basically,at that level, you can run forward and say yes, it's probablygoingtobeamine. Let's move forward on the economic studies but as we continue to do that drilling andsomeoftheinfilldrilling toupgradethoseounces,we are still going to end up making it bigger because there's still big gaps in there that we haven't drilled,” Ellinghamsaid.
She further noted that continued drilling has uncovered extensive zones

Moreover, Ellingham explained that projects of Omai's scale offer significantly greater longtermvalue.

“Mines like this with 8 million ounces, you know you're talking you know a 20-yearminelifeandasyou said,”shenoted. Ellingham added that drilling has already confirmed mineralisation hundreds of metres below the Wenot deposit, suggesting the deposit could support miningfordecades.
“We've drilled 700 meters below Wenot and showedthattheshearisstill there and it had seven gold zones. So, it's a proof of concept. But what it tells people is, this is probably a 20, 30-year mine, or even more,”Ellinghamsaid.
Omai's CEO went on to say the results have put the company in a position to prove the project is a “rare gem.”
AccordingtoEllingham, drillinghasalreadyextended to roughly 960 metres and the company plans to continue toward 1,200 metres.
“Someone was asking mehowdeepwe'regoingto go, and it's like, well, if we keep getting mineralisation,
we'll probably keep going, and we'll see what it looks like. And if it's really good, we'lltryandkeepgoing.And as you know, this other hole that we drilled ended up being just over two kilometers long, 2000 meters.
Sobasically,thedrillout absolutely has the capacity todothat.Sothat'strulythe fun stuff. That's the true exploration,”shestated.
The Omai Gold Mine is located in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni). The project's April 2026 MRE revealthatthereis2,495,000 ounces of gold in the indicated category and 5,465,000 ounces in the inferredcategory
Reflecting on the project's evolution, Ellingham said that when she first began evaluating the project there were no defined resources. “I have worked on these shear hosted deposits before, so I kind of thought you know the target was like, we can find three or five million ounces and get this into a 250-300,000-ounce producer And like, a lot of people looked at me like I was a little delusional,” Ellinghamadded.
She admitted that in reality,sheneverthoughtthe project would get to this stage, with an estimated eight million ounces and both open pit and underground mining potential.
Ellingham believes the project could support even higher levels of production dependingonthesizeofthe processing plant. “They've gotalotofcapacitywiththat huge open pit and the underground, so yeah so it can even go over 300,000 ouncesayear…”sheadded.
