Improved Member Services Coming to West Center On June 26, the GVR Board of Directors gave the thumbs-up to a plan to improve member services: renovate the lobby at West Center. THE GOALS 1. Consolidate business services in a single location. Currently, members go to the Administrative Offices for some transactions, and to the box office at West Center for others. The division of services is clear as mud to many members who are understandably frustrated at finding themselves at the “wrong” desk. Bringing all the service desks to a single location will provide a one-stop shop for members to easily buy event tickets, purchase guest cards, replace lost cards, make changes to deeds, or add additional cardholders to their accounts. 2. Improve access. For new members, the Administrative Building is hard to spot, and sometimes harder to park near. In the winter months, the lots are often full even when half the staff park off-site. With directional signs already in place on La Canada and Continental, West Center is easier for new and prospective members to find, and parking is very rarely an issue. Like all customer services, the workload ebbs and flows through the day. Having a consolidated crew means more opportunities for extra hands to step up to the counter when the lines get long.
3. Improve GVR’s first impression. There is not much about the Administrative Offices that suggests to new or prospective members that they are about to encounter a menu of recreation opportunities that is truly an astonishing value. At West Center, new members can readily tour a pool and tennis and shuffleboard facilities. They will be able to visit three arts and crafts workshops and get a sneak peek at many other club and class offerings via The Artisan’s Shop. Once in the building, the Events and Entertainment offerings will be on display and there’s a good chance the Table Tennis Club will be having a bit of rousing fun in the auditorium.

MAIN ENTRANCE
Members will be greeted by customer service staff when they enter the renovated lobby. Art, ample seating, and information about the Events and Entertainment programs will provide notable improvements over the current space at the Administrative Offices. The box office expansion planned for this area will not displace any current member activities.
