BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE UNION AGRICULTURE SOCIETY AT PALMYRA

INTRODUCING OUR NEW FRIENDS FROM

CELEBRATING 200 YEARS ON THE ERIE CANALFOLLOW IT TO THE FAIR!

A USAP EVENT

Welcome

TO THE 168TH ANNUAL WAYNE COUNTY FAIR!

On behalf of our Board of Directors and our many dedicated volunteers, I would like to welcome you to the 2025 Wayne County Fair!

I want to extend my deepest thanks to all our sponsors, volunteers, elected officials, friends and the entire community for coming together to help host what I truly believe is the greatest 7-day event in Wayne County.

Our theme this year is “Follow the Erie Canal to the Fair, Celebrating 200 Years on the Erie Canal.” The Wayne County Fair connects people, places and ideas just as the Erie Canal did many years ago. The primary focus of the Wayne County Fair is to, first and foremost, serve as a showcase of the talents of the youth of the community by providing a means of education, exhibit and competition of the various livestock and non-livestock projects the youth are involved in. We will also use the county fair to highlight the heritage of the community, and its ties to agriculture, industry, and businesses that are the backbone of the county.

Of course, no Fair is complete without plenty of entertainment! This year’s fair will host a new Midway by Main Event Amusements who will offer a variety of rides, games and concessions for all ages. In the grandstand, the excitement continues with the Empire State Pullers Tractor Pull, Figure 8 Races, Beat the East Bull Riders Rodeo, action

packed Demolition Derbies and a Central NY Garden Tractor Pull.

Throughout the entire week, we offer daily free entertainment in our Entertainment Tent, on the back porch of Floral Hall and the Agri-Puppet Show will perform daily starting on Tuesday. The Wayne County Parade has moved to Saturday night and Fiddlers of the Genesee will perform on Sunday.

As you walk throughout the fairgrounds, be sure to visit our buildings and tents that will showcase fruit, vegetables, flowers, home arts and many species of livestock. Don’t forget to sample all the delicious Fair food!

The Wayne County Fair is brought to life each year by our hardworking staff and invaluable volunteers, who dedicate countless hours to making this event unforgettable. We are very grateful for your continued patronage and support of the county’s largest and longest-running public event.

Sincerely,

Wayne County Fair President www.waynecountyfair.org

29TH RAYMOND MEMORIAL

WAYNE COUNTY FAIR 1996-2025

The Raymond family’s dedication and passion for training and racing standard bred horses all started with the dream of one man ... Mike Raymond. Mike and his family spent many years of their lives training horses at the Wayne County fairgrounds. When it came time to racing, Mike raced the circuit at Buffalo, Batavia and Vernon Downs. But the family’s most memorable and enjoyable experiences were racing all the county fairs in New York.

The Raymond Memorial was started in 1996 at the Wayne County Fair in remembrance of Mike Raymond for his many years of dedication to the racing world. On Monday, August 4, 2025. the Raymond family will continue this tradition. It’s moments like this that gives them great pleasure and also reminds them of fond memories of the past and the thrill of harness racing. This will be a special occasion for the family as it marks the 25th year of the Raymond Memorial. The family will be generously donated a memorial blanket in remembrance of their family members ... Mike, Violet, Jean and Michael Raymond.

Wayne County Fair Marshall

Bill Petty

This year’s Wayne County Fair Marshall is Bill Petty, a familiar and beloved face around the fairgrounds. Born and raised in Macedon, Bill has called Wayne County home his entire life. Bill and his wife, Barb, raised their family here and have 4 children and 5 grandchildren. His deep roots in the community are matched by decades of hands-on dedication to the fair—doing everything from electrical work and general maintenance to overseeing the grounds, year-round until his retirement.

With over 20 years of fair service and a history of helping out here since the 1960s, Bill says he’s never seen it as a job—“it’s just something I like to do.” He takes pride in watching the fairgrounds grow, especially with the addition of new buildings over the years. When fair week rolls around, his family joins in the tradition, including his kids and his sister who lives next door.

This year, Bill is especially excited for the community to check out the fair’s newest addition: a new ride company, so the community should appreciate the new ride lineup bolstering the agricultural and local attractions. With his enthusiasm for “just about everything” at the fair, it’s clear Bill’s heart is firmly rooted in its success—and in the joy it brings to Wayne County year after year.
