2025-26 St. Bonaventure bonnies

2025-26 duquesne dukes

Buddy Simmons II surpassed 1,000 career points in last week’s win at Fordham (Feb. 7). He reached the millenium mark with five points in the first half before surging for 18 in the second half to lead the Bonnies to the win.
Simmons II scored 628 points over two years at Gardner-Webb before posting 390 through 24 games this season. He tallied 539 of his 628 points with the Runnin’ Bulldogs during his sophomore season (2024-25).
Simmons II has lit up the scoreboard in Atlantic 10 play, averaging a conference-best 18.3 points through 11 conference games while shooting 49.0 percent (74-for-151) from the floor and 46.6 percent (34-for-73) from beyond the arc.
Simmons II has scored at least 14 points in 8-of-11 A-10 matchups, with 20-or-more points in five of those games.
Simmons II is the one of just four Atlantic 10 players to make 60-or-more threepointers this season. He has made multiple three-pointers in 18 of the Bonnies’ 23 games.
In conference play, Simmons II has made 34 triples, second most in the A-10. His 37.9 minutes per game lead the league, and he has played a full 40 minutes in seven of SBU’s 11 conference games so far.
TO BE FRANK
St. Bonaventure forward Frank Mitchell has been one of the most productive players on the boards in the country this season.
Mitchell is averaging 9.7 rebounds per game, which leads all players in the Atlantic 10 conference. As of Thursday (Feb. 12), he is tied for 17th in the nation in total rebounds with 226. He is one of just two St. Bonaventure players in the last four years to surpass 200 rebounds in a season (Chance Moore, 207; 2024-25).
A remarkable number of Mitchell’s rebounds have come on the offensive end. His

102 total offensive rebounds (4.3 per game) rank second in Division I.
Mitchell has tallied double-digit offensive rebounds two games this season, with a season-best 11 against Colgate (Dec. 10) and 10 vs. Ohio (Dec. 13).
Mitchell is no stranger to the top of the national rebounding leaderboards. In 202324 with Canisius, he averaged 11.6 rebounds per game, the fourth-most in Division I.
In the scoring column, Mitchell has scored in double figures in 20 of 24 games this season. He has scored 20-or-more points in seven games this season.
Cayden Charles has been pivotal to the Bonnies’ offense in conference play. The 6-foot-3 guard is averaging 14.0 points and 6.4 rebounds in St. Bonaventure’s 11 Atlantic 10 games.
Charles had a remarkable game at Fordham last Saturday (Feb. 7), scoring a seasonbest 21 points in the win. He tallied six rebounds while shooting 8-for-13 from the floor. The senior made a career-best-tying three triples.
The senior has scored at least nine points in 15 straight games, grabbing at least five rebounds in 13 games during that span.
Freshman Andrew Osasuyi had a career day against Fordham on Saturday. He posted career-bests in minutes (29), points (12) and steals (4) while tying his career high of five blocks.
He became the first Atlantic 10 player in nearly 17 years to record at least 10 points, five blocks and four steals in a conference game. He was just the fourth player to do so in the last 30 years, joining UMass’ Tony Gaffney (Feb. 18, 2009) as well as David West (Jan. 9, 2002) and James Posey (Feb. 14, 1999) of Xavier. Coach Mark Schmidt was on the staff at Xavier as an assistant coach during both Posey and West’s careers.
Osasuyi is averaging an incredibly efficient 5.3 blocks per 40 minutes. His 1.8 blocks per game in conference play rank fifth in the Atlantic 10. Osasuyi has 13 blocks in his last five games (2.6 per game).

By Scott Eddy, Assistant Athletics Director for Strategic Communications
Five new inductees join the St. Bonaventure University Athletics Hall of Fame this weekend as the Class of 2026: Caswell Cyrus '00 (men's basketball), Kerry Caher '16 (women's cross country/track), James Martin '14 (men's swimming), Randy Moley '08 (baseball) and Chris Post '11 (men's tennis) have earned selection as the 47th induction class. Joining them will be Christine Hanley '11 (women's lacrosse) who was selected last year but deferred her induction to this year.
The new inductees join 163 previous St. Bonaventure Athletics Hall of Fame honorees, continuing a tradition which dates to the inaugural induction class in 1969. Induction into the Hall of Fame recognizes and honors those individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the intercollegiate program at St. Bonaventure University, and who have continued to demonstrate in their lives the values imparted by intercollegiate athletics.
Caswell Cyrus '00
One of 26 players in St. Bonaventure men's basketball history to surpass 1,000 career points and 500 total rebounds, Cyrus stands as one of the best defensive players in Bonnies program history and was key to multiple memorable teams.
Cyrus graduated with 1,121 points, a total that stands today as 35th in the school record book. He also ranks 17th in rebounding with 680 boards while his 289 blocks long stood as the program benchmark. His blocks total still ranks second among all Bonaventure players.
A fierce defender, he was a three-time selection to the Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team, one of only three Bonnies to achieve that feat, and his 99 swats in 1997-98 set the Bona single season record which still stands. Cyrus was also an integral part of two Bonnies postseason teams, first helping the program to the 1998 NIT before serving as a key figure on the 2000 NCAA Tournament squad.

The GoBonnies.com Student-Athletes of the Week presented by CPL for the week ending Feb. 8 are men's basketball senior Cayden Charles and women's basketball junior Kylie Buckley.

Buckley played an important role in the Bonnies wins over Davidson and Duquesne last week, averaging 10.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game across 21.7 minutes per game. She finished the week shooting 53.3 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from beyond the arc.
In Wednesday's win over Davidson, Buckley chipped in eight points and four rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench.
Buckley made her first start of the season Saturday against the Dukes, registering a season-high 13 points to go along with four rebounds in 24 minutes.
On the year, Buckley is averaging 3.1 points and 2.2 rebounds while shooting 42.9 percent from the floor in 11.8 minutes per game.
Charles averaged 17.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and shot nearly 62 percent overall from the floor in two games for men's basketball.
In a win at Fordham this past Saturday, he poured in a game-high 21 points along with six rebounds while going 8-of-13 from the floor. He also drained three of four attempts from beyond the arc.
He also finished with 13 points, five boards and two steals as well on Tuesday at Dayton.
For the season, Charles is posting 12.9 ppg, good for third on the team, and his 6.5 rebounds per contest are second on the Bonnies.

Kerry Caher '16
Ten years after her graduation, Caher remains the most decorated women's runner in St. Bonaventure history, and as stated by cross country/track head coach Bob Macfarlane, "redefined what was possible for cross country at St. Bonaventure."
A two-time First Team All-Atlantic 10 honoree, she still sets the bar with the best finishes for a Bonnies runner, male or female, at the A-10 championship meet. Her cross country benchmarks remain untouched – her school record 5K of 17:34 continues to be the top time in Bona history by 49 seconds while her 6K mark of 21:13 remains the Bonaventure standard by 32 seconds.
Despite competing at a time when the Bonnies did not have an official track team, she still owns the school's 5,000-meter outdoor track time of 17:14.2 as well.
A 'first ballot' Hall of Fame selection in her first year of eligibility, Caher becomes the first women's cross country/track alum to be selected to the SBU Athletics Hall of Fame.
James Martin '14
In a long line of decorated athletes to represent St. Bonaventure men's swimming and diving, Martin is among the best of all-time.
A key to Bona's back-to-back Atlantic 10 Champions of 2013 and 2014, he stood as the conference individual champ for the 50free in 2014 and the 100-free in 2012.
His medal collection grew extensive by the time of his graduation as he captured four silver and three bronze medals at Atlantic 10 Championships during his career. Martin also racked up the hardware in relays, serving as a clutch member of eight gold medal-winning relay teams as well as two which earned silver and two more taking bronze over four seasons at the conference championships.
In the 2014 title-winning meet for the Bonnies, Martin helped set the Atlantic 10 Championship record at the time for both the 200-free relay and 400-free relay. His 400-free relay time of 2:55.48 set by Martin and teammates Michael Pilyugin, Viacheslav Shchukin and Ripley Danner remains the Atlantic 10 record.
The only Bonnies baseball athlete to finish his career with over 200 hits, 125 runs scored, 100 RBIs and 50 stolen bases, Moley is one of the top players of the program's modern era.
His .352 career batting average is fourth in school history while his 213 total hits post as fifth-most. Moley also checks in tied for third in career doubles (46) and fifth in runs scored (137).
His 2008 senior season shines as one of the best in Bona history: he recorded a .406 batting average with a .494 on-base percentage along with six homers, 20 doubles and 56 RBIs while

swiping 32 stolen bases. Following that year, he received First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors as well as First Team All-Region accolades. His 84 hits and 61 runs scored that spring still stand as the most in a single season by any Bonnies player. In 2006, he helped the Bonnies reach the Atlantic 10 Championship Game with a .360 batting average that season.
Moley represented all-around excellence with three selections to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team (2006-08). He joined elite Bonaventure company when he was chosen as a First Team CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2008.
Chris Post '11
Post left his mark on the program as one of the top Bonnies men's tennis players in SBU's Atlantic 10 era. During his Bonaventure career, he was hailed as a three-time Atlantic 10 First Team AllConference selection while holding down the No. 1 singles spot on the team for three of his four seasons.
His effort in the 2009 Atlantic 10 Tournament represents one of the most dramatic matches in program history as he rallied from down 5-2 in the third and final set on match point to earn a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (3) victory and clinch the game-winning point over George Washington to send the Bonnies to the A-10 Championship final. Following the match, he required two bags of IV fluids at a local hospital but returned the next day for finals, splitting the first two

sets vs. Xavier before the match was called when the Musketeers clinched the winning point as the Bonnies finished the season as the A-10 runners-up.
That type of resilience led Bonnies head coach Michael Bates to tout Post as "the most dedicated and hardest working player I've ever had the privilege of coaching."
Post also won the Atlantic 10's Sporting Award in 2009 for excellence and sportsmanship.
Christine Hanley '11
Hanley stands as not only one of the top women's lacrosse players in St. Bonaventure history, but one of the most decorated athletes across the board in recent Bonnies athletics memory.
A four-time Atlantic 10 All-Conference selection, she was named First Team All-A-10 in both 2010 and 2011 after being a Second Team honoree in 2009 and an All-Rookie Team pick in her debut season of 2008.
Hanley is the program's all-time leader in goals with 154 while her 195 total points remain third in Bonnies history.
She graduated as the program's leader for games started (60), groundballs (124) and caused turnovers (88) – totals she continues to rank top 10 in for Bona all-time ranks. Hanley also stands 10th in career assists (41).
In the classroom, she also achieved excellence by earning Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team honors.
