Prime Minister, Brigadier (Ret'd), Mark Phillips and his wife, Mrs. Mignon Bowen - Phillips, attended the Revival Awareness and Perpetuation of African Culture (RAPAC) Emancipation Festival held in New Amsterdam, Berbice.

On Emancipation Day, Guyanese participated in the rich African Culture on display in food, dress, song and dance at the National Park. Patrons celebrated this pivotal chapter in the nation's history, as the day reminded all that there is strength in diversity. At the National Park persons participated in celebrations of heritage, cultural richness, and the unity that binds Guyana as a nation.
