CELEBRATINGBLACKHISTORY: GULFPORTARTSCENTER

The Gulfport High School Art students recently had the opportunity to travel to the Gulfport Arts Center to visit the Black History Month exhibit During their visit, students explored a variety of works that celebrated the achievements, culture, and history of Black artists and communities This experience allowed students to connect classroom learning with real-world artistic expression while gaining a deeper appreciation for the powerful role art plays in telling stories and honoring history The trip provided inspiration and meaningful insight as students continue to grow in their own artistic journeys

What a weekend at ThesCon We learned so much, laughed nonstop, ate our way through Meridian, and packed our days with shows that left us inspired Getting to perform Journey to the World's Edge and Game of Tiaras made the trip even more special, but the real joy was cheering on every performer we met and feeling the energy of so many talented artists in one place!

SOUTHERNMISSVISITS BVMS:DR.TRAVISHIGA

Thank you to Travis Higa, Director of The Pride of Mississippi at University of Southern Mississippi, for joining the BVMS Symphonic Band as they prepared for Regional Concert Evaluation the following month Dr Higa spent time working with the students, sharing his expertise and providing valuable feedback that will help them continue to grow as musicians Mr Norre, Mrs Tackitt, and Mr Rose truly enjoyed having Dr Higa visit and work with the ensemble Opportunities like this allow our students to learn from outstanding educators and gain new perspectives on their musicmaking

SOLO&ENSEMBLE

The Gulfport High School Choir students recently had the opportunity to participate in the Solo & Ensemble competition, where they showcased their musical talent, preparation, and dedication to their craft Each student spent countless hours preparing their music, focusing on vocal technique, musical expression, and performance skills in order to present their very best on stage. Students who earned a score of 90 or higher qualified for the recital, an outstanding accomplishment that reflects their hard work and commitment We are incredibly proud of these talented students for representing Gulfport High School with excellence and continuing to demonstrate the strength of our Fine Arts programs

GULFPORTHIGHSCHOOLJVWINTERGUARD

The Gulfport High School JV Winter Guard has shown incredible growth throughout their 2026 season Earlier this season, the team competed at the WGI Gulfport Regional, placing 17th while performing in a higher classification

Competing up in class gave these students the opportunity to challenge themselves and gain valuable experience performing on a larger stage

Most recently, the team delivered a strong performance at the Magnolia Gulfport show, earning 1st place in their class with a score of 6801, their highest score of the season so far This milestone reflects the dedication, teamwork, and steady improvement the students have shown throughout the season

We are incredibly proud of their progress and are excited to see them continue building momentum as they prepare for their final competition on March 28.

GULFPORTHIGHSCHOOL VARSITYWINTERGUARD:

The Gulfport High School Varsity Winter Guard welcomes audiences into their “Living Room” this season as they continue fighting their way to the top At the 2026 WGI Gulfport Regional, the Varsity team placed 5th in their class, showing strong competitive momentum early in the season

Most recently, the team earned 1st place at the Magnolia Gulfport show with a score of 7714, their highest score of the season so far We are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication this season

We can’t wait to see what they do next as they prepare for the Magnolia Championships on March 28 and the WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio this April

GULFPORTHIGHSCHOOLWINDS:

Congratulations to the Gulfport Winds Program as they soared through their indoor season!

They earned an incredible 3rd place finish at the WGI Jackson Regional, and we couldn’t be more proud of their hard work and dedication We can’t wait to see what they do next!

GULFPORTHIGHSCHOOLPERCUSSION:

The Gulfport High School Percussion also took the floor this season and did an incredible job representing Gulfport!

Their 2026 production, “The Weather,” brought the energy, earning them an impressive 2nd place finish at the MPA Gulfport Show and a strong 6th place finish at the WGI Jackson Regional

We are so proud of this team and all the hard work they’ve put in this season!

GULFPORTHIGHSCHOOLCHOIRDEPARTMENT:

Congratulations to the Gulfport High School Choir Department on their amazing success at Evaluation!

The Gulfport Women’s Choir, Gulfport Singers, Gulfport Men’s Choir, Madrigals, and the Sextet all received Superior Ratings, an incredible accomplishment The Nontet and Quartet also earned Excellent ratings We couldn’t be more proud of these talented students and their directors for representing Gulfport so well!
