Definition of Hazing (Under the Stop Campus Hazing Act, Public Law 118-173)
Under the Stop Campus Hazing Act, “hazing” is defined as any intentional, knowing, or reckless act committed by a person (whether individually or in concert with other persons) against another person, regardless of willing participation, in connection with initiation, affiliation, or membership in a student organization, that causes or creates a risk of physical or psychological injury.
•Inclusion of hazing statistics in the Annual Security Report (ASR) to begin 10/1/26.
•Publication of a Campus Hazing Transparency Report.
•Policies consistent with the federal definition and clear repor ting procedures.
•Prevention education and transparency initiatives across campus.

Policy Statement on Hazing & Reporting Encouragement
GTCC prohibits hazing in all forms. Any act that endangers the mental, physical, or emotional health or safety of a student in connection with a group or organization is strictly forbidden under the Student Code of Conduct. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to report suspected hazing promptly to the Office of Student Conduct or Campus Police.
Reported Hazing Incidents for This Period
During the reporting period January 01, 2026, to June 30, 2026, GTCC received no reported incidents of hazing. No pending investigations or sanctions are related to hazing currently.
Education, Prevention, and Transparency
Methods
Prevention & Culture Building
•GTCC highlights and celebrates student organizations that demonstrate inclusive, non-hazing practices, reinforcing positive campus culture.
•Student Life and club and organization advisors actively encourage safe, positive, and inclusive bonding activities that promote unity without risk or harm. Faculty and staff advisors are present at organization meetings and events to ensure proper oversight and support healthy group dynamics and receive annual training on hazing awareness and prevention
•Beginning fall 2026, GTCC will require all club and organization officers and advisors to participate in hazing awareness and reporting training and they must sign a Non-Hazing Commitment Form acknowledging their responsibility to uphold the College’s zero-tolerance policy on hazing.
•The GTCC Athletic Department integrates hazing prevention and reporting discussions into preseason meetings and team briefings, emphasizing respect and accountability for student athletes, coaches and staff members. All student athletes sign a Non-Hazing Commitment Form acknowledging their responsibility to uphold the College’s zero-tolerance policy on hazing.
Transparency & Reporting
•GTCC publishes Campus Hazing Transparency Reports two times per year on its hazing webpage to ensure visibility and accountability.
•The College maintains online and telephone reporting options for students and staff to report hazing or related misconduct without fear of retaliation.
•“Report Hazing” digital materials with QR codes linking directly to reporting portals are displayed across all campuses.
•Following investigations or policy updates, GTCC shares campus-wide messages reinforcing its commitment to safety, inclusion, and transparency as appropriate.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
•GTCC maintains a Hazing Prevention Working Group that includes representatives from Campus Police, Student Life, Athletics, Counseling Services, and other related support offices to coordinate prevention initiatives.
•The College uses resources and training materials from national organizations, including StopHazing.org and the Clery Center, to strengthen prevention education and compliance.
•GTCC conducts annual reviews of all hazing-related policies and reporting procedures to ensure alignment with the Stop Campus Hazing Act and other federal standards. The Student Code of Conduct is a particular focus in this annual effort
•The College conducts periodic student surveys to assess awareness, attitudes, and campus culture and uses this data to inform hazing prevention efforts.
•GTCC has developed a hazing webpage to share prevention initiatives, awareness programs, and progress updates with the campus community.
