Making the World a Better Place Not included:
For Cheerio bird feeders and cat toys: Scissors, Cheerios. For donation drive: Have girls bring in non-perishable items or gently used clothing. Remember, you don’t have to do all the activities.
Intro:
Let’s make the Girl Scout sign and say the Girl Scout Promise together. Would anyone like to lead it? On my honor, I will try: To serve God* and my country, To help people at all times, And to live by the Girl Scout Law. *Members may substitute for the word God in accordance with their own spiritual beliefs.
Icebreaker:
Have each girl introduce themselves and share something that makes them happy!
Pick at least three of the following activities to complete to earn this petal! You can do these all in one meeting or over several meetings if you wish. Feel free to be creative, and modify or supplement these ideas with your own activities around the theme of making the world a better place.
Activity 1: Talk about it! Ask the girls:
e What is one thing we can do to make the world a better place? e Why is it important to help others? e In addition to helping people, what are some other things we can do to make the world better?
Activity 2: Bring joy and beauty to the world! Use the sidewalk chalk (included) to go outside and draw happy pictures or messages on the sidewalk! This is sure to brighten people’s day! (You may have to ask permission from your meeting site.)
