No matter how much time you have to commit to Girl Scouts, you will make an impact. And remember, when you help with the troop, you support your troop leader while modeling leadership for your Girl Scout.
If You Have 15 Minutes a Week, offer to... Organize and manage the calendar for troop snacks or carpools. There’s no need to provide goodies or buckle up the Girl Scouts every week yourself. Simply helping other parents/caregivers sign up and commit to future meeting dates will make meetings go smoothly for everyone.
If You Have 30 Minutes a Week, offer to... Manage troop communications for your troop leader. This can mean anything from sending texts to parents/caregivers to confirm meeting dates or to update them with schedule changes, maintaining the troop’s social presence, or organizing a phone tree in case of an emergency.
If You Have 45 Minutes a Week, offer to... Take photos or videos at meetings and Girl Scout events. Leaders are often too busy to document every exciting moment, so your help will be well-received. Be sure all Girl Scouts have signed photo releases on file before snapping and sharing images.
If You Have 1-2 Hours a Week, offer to... Lead part of a troop meeting or guide a specific badge. You can introduce the troop to a topic that you have expertise in or explore a new activity and learn alongside the troop!
If You Have 2-3 Hours a Week, offer to... Become a cookie volunteer for your troop. You’ll play a key part in the Girl Scout Cookie Program, which raises funds for troop activities, teaches Girl Scouts how to make decisions and collaborate as a group, promotes confidence in public speaking, and provides money management skills. No matter how you contribute to your troop, your Girl Scout will appreciate your active role in the Girl Scouting experience! No tienes tú que llevar todo ni manejar todas las semanas. Sencillamente, al encargarte de anotar a otras mamás, papás y cuidadores para que ayuden en reuniones futuras, contribuyes a que todo salga bien.
Si tienes 30 minutos a la semana, ofrécete para... Administrar las comunicaciones de tu líder de tropa. Esto puede ser desde enviar textos a mamás, papás y cuidadores para confirmar las fechas de las reuniones o actualizarles si hay cambios en los horarios, administrar las redes sociales de tu tropa y hasta establecer la cadena telefónica para emergencias.
Si tienes 45 minutos a la semana, ofrécete para... Tomar fotos o videos en reuniones y eventos de Girl Scouts. Muchas veces el liderazgo está tan ocupado que no puede documentar cada momento emocionante, por lo que tu ayuda será muy apreciada. Asegúrate de que todas las niñas hayan firmado su consentimiento de aparecer en fotos.
Si tienes de 1 a 2 horas a la semana, ofrécete para... Dirigir parte de una reunión de tropa o un parche específico. Puedes exponer un tema que domines ¡o aprender una nueva actividad junto con tu tropa!
Si tienes de 2 a 3 horas a la semana, ofrécete para... Vender galletas a nombre de tu tropa. Tendrás un papel importantísimo en el programa de Galletas Girl Scout que tiene como fin recaudar fondos para actividades de la tropa y enseñarles a las Girl Scouts a tomar decisiones y colaborar en grupo, a hablar con la gente y a manejar dinero. No importa cómo colabores con tu tropa, ¡tu Girl Scout apreciará tu participación activa en su experiencia Girl Scouts!
