Participants should be able to do an easy 30-45 minute trail hike/walk, or bring additional volunteers to accompany girls on the hike/walk.

From troop meetings to cookie booths to fun trips and events, Girl Scouts is better with Troop Helpers!
Girl Scouts is a
Troop Helpers play an important role in aiding leaders to ensure girls have safe and fun experiences at meetings and beyond. Each troop may utilize a Troop Helper differently, but all Troop Helpers must be registered, background checked, and screened members. This includes completing mandated reporter training and signing Annual Volunteer Agreement before assisting the troop and interacting with girl members. These volunteers count towards your volunteer-to-girl ratios for meetings and outings, and can help all girls, not just their own.
Registered parents can help in many ways! Family Affair!
Ask parents or caregivers how much free time they have each week – whether it’s 30 minutes or two hours – and think about how you may be able to use their help and enrich your troop experience.
Could they arrive early and set up activity stations before the meeting?
Could they chaperone on a day trip or overnight event?
Do they have a job that relates to one of the four program pillars of Girl Scouting? (STEM, Life Skills, Outdoors, or Entrepreneurship)?
Could they be a guest speaker and answer questions the girls may have about their job?
Could they lead an activity related to their job or interests?
Can they keep track of troop finances?
Can they put together a group chat for all the parents in the troop?
Can they work with you to plan an outing with the girls?
