Preschool Theater Like to tell stories? Like to play dress-up? Like to go on daring adventures? Then join us as we explore the world of theater through music, movement, story, and games and build confidence, selfexpression, literacy and communication skills. Students will be introduced to basic theater skills such as expression, character creation, and storytelling using their face, bodies, and voices. The semester will end with an Open Class for family and friends featuring an original performance.

Cheerleading Our program is a wonderful way to introduce the sport of cheerleading to younger girls in a fun, low-pressure environment. Learn the beginning cheers, sidelines, jumps, kicks, building stunts, and a short dance. Build confidence, teamwork, and showmanship! Students should wear formfitting shorts, t-shirt, athletic shoes (rubber soled), have hair pulled out of eyes, and no jewelry.

Ballet-Boxing Mash-Up

Ballet-Boxing Mash-Up mixes 20 minutes of traditional, beginner ballet moves to classical dance music with twenty minutes of kickboxing (kicking and punching combinations) to fast-beat cardio tunes, ending with five minutes of stretching exercises. Girls and boys will discover their inner dancers, then move to express their hidden fighter spirits and build their confidence in both grace and strength. This class is suitable for all activity levels - from the moderately active to very active youngsters. Everyone learns the same combinations and makes the moves their own. No special equipment is required, just the desire to move. New Ballet Ensemble: Tap This beginner tap class will focus on basic rhythm, volume, timbre and building-block steps. Fundamental tap steps including flaps, shuffles, steps, toes, heels, hops, ball changes and pickups will all be explored. Students should wear a pink leotard and skirt or black shorts and white t-shirt, socks, and tap shoes. Students MUST have tap shoes that fit appropriately. No tights! Please note that ballet will be offered in the Spring. SK Literacy Club Eager to read? This club is tailored to emergent and beginner readers. This action packed club focuses on key foundational literacy skills like rhyming, letter and sound relationships, syllables, and more! Exciting multi-sensory techniques are used to engage club members. Following the center model, students will rotate through small group, teacher-led centers that focus on early literacy foundational skills.

Service Learning At GSL, we pride ourselves on our service learning efforts and are pleased to offer the following service learning opportunities. Mana Blessing Bags for the Homeless Students will fill blessing bags with nonperishable food items to be passed out to the homeless. They will also create bags for children filled with coloring items. Grades: Pre-Kindergarten and Junior Kindergarten Date: Tuesday, September 18 Time: 3:15 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Location: Daring Dinosaur Room Instructor: Mrs. Whitey Cost: $20 Halloween Cheer LeBonheur Children’s Hospital is inundated with holiday cards during the December holiday season, but they would love to receive some encouragement during other times. During this October service learning class, we will create Halloween cards for the children in the hospital. We will be using spiders, bats, black cats and more to create the perfect card to put a smile on any child’s face! Don’t worry, we promise not to make them too scary! Boo! Blankets and Pillows with Mrs. Bayzie Students will fill blessing bags with nonperishable food items to be passed out to the homeless. American Girl Christmas Party Grab your favorite doll for our Holly Jolly Christmas Party! We will make sure your special doll has a stocking to hang and a scarf to wear to keep the freezing temps away. No holiday party is complete without hot cocoa and sweet treats.

Sewing Club It’s “sew” much fun! Each week, boys and girls will stitch up new projects that reflect their personal style and creativity while learning new skills. Projects include pillows, stuffed animals, bags, accessories,and holiday-themed projects. Crazy 8s Math Club Crazy 8s is a math club unlike any other! It offers unique, high-energy math activities that appeal to kids of all math abilities. Crazy 8s is a recreational after-school math club that helps kids enjoy the math behind their favorite activities! With Crazy 8s, kids will build glow-in-the-dark structures, crack secret spy codes, and play games like toilet paper olympics. Wordly Wise Hello, 4th graders! Heard about Wordly Wise (WW)? Join the WW Club and I promise it’s something you won’t dread from week to week. We will spend the first few weeks getting you in the routine and completing weekly assignments-especially section E! After the six week club, I will offer drop in sessions for those who would like to continue or need some extra help from time to time. During the drop in sessions, we will work on weekly assignments as well as play fun games with the definitions to help you review. Homemade Beauty Products Spend the afternoon with Mrs. Marie creating your own homemade beauty products. Students will make scrubs, lotions, and masks, all while learning patience and teamwork! Intro to Soldering Electronics 8

Soldering is at the core of every electronics project. In this class, students will learn how to solder a point-to-point LED flashlight and LED blinky light. Instructor Gino Barzizza will show you tips and tricks to get you started on your journey into DIY electronics. Classes include introduction to electrical theory and hands-on building of a LED flash circuit using capacitors, resistors, integrated circuits (IC, switches, LEDs, and batteries). Finally, students will modify a toy to act as an enclosure for their circuits. In the world of DIY electronics, there is always something more to learn. These classes are a series in which students will build on their skills. Middle School Study Hall Middle School Study Hall is held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday during the Fall semester. Study Hall is held in various middle school classrooms and is proctored by a middle school teacher. Students meet in Lass Hall; a snack is provided. When carpool is over, they will head to Study Hall. Students can be picked up on Lemaster in front of the middle school red doors at 4:30 p.m., or they can go to ACE After School. If a student is not registered for ACE After School, the drop-in fee of $15 for that day will be charged. Music Lessons Grades: Junior Kindergarten - 8th Returning Students: Last Spring, families were asked to inform the instructor of a student's desire to return this Fall. Those who did will receive a confirmation from the instructor when the student's lesson time is scheduled. Happy Feet Soccer HappyFeet classes allow every child to constantly have a ball at his or her feet. HappyFeet uses nursery rhymes, songs, stories and fun games with a soccer ball to maximize motor development. PK and JK kids love acting out nursery rhymes and have a blast with fun games. The HappyFeet ball is called “Bob the Bobcat”! In one HappyFeet class students are getting hundreds of touches on the ball, building up their confidence and basic technique. Preparing them to be brave and creative leaders on and off the field.

ACE @ Play (formerly Holiday Care)

ACE @ Play provides students with a fun and safe environment on select days when students are off school. Previously known as “Holiday Care,” ACE @ Play is available to all GSL students. PK

A late fee of $15 begins one week before the camp begins. Registration will close three days before the ACE @ Play date. Students must be registered to attend. ACE @ Play does not include students who are registered full time for ACE After School. These students must still be registered for each ACE @ Play day available.

If an upcoming ACE @ Play date is not listed in UltraCamp, that means registration is closed.

ACE Enrichment Policies

REGISTRATION UltraCamp is used to manage all registration and billing activity for ACE Enrichment. An UltraCamp account with a card on file is required to register. Families new to UltraCamp will be taken through the process of creating a new user account. Advanced registration is required for each ACE Enrichment offering. Classes are filled on a firstcome, first-served basis. Registration will remain open until a class is full or until the day before a class begins. Please enroll early. Confirmation of ACE Enrichment reservations will be sent via email. Class times, dates, and locations can be found on UltraCamp or in this brochure. PAYMENT INFORMATION There are two options to pay for ACE Enrichment classes: 1. Pay in full at the time of registration 2. Pay 50 percent at the time of registration; remaining balance must be paid in full three days before the class begins

At the end of an Enrichment class, students should either be picked up or report to ACE After School. There is no additional charge for students who are registered for ACE After School full-time. All other students will be charged the daily drop-in fee of $15 through UltraCamp. Contact the ACE office at 901.590.6604 to cancel an ACE Enrichment class in advance. A minimum of seven days notice must be given to receive a refund. No refunds will be given for students who are registered for more than one activity on a particular day/time. It is the parent's responsibility to ensure a student is not registered for overlapping classes. Enrichment classes will not meet on school half days or holidays. Classes with insufficient enrollment are subject to cancellation with a full credit to a family's UltraCamp account. Advance notice will be provided to those registered. The ACE office will not contact parents when a student is not in attendance. No refund will be given for a student who chooses not to attend classes or activities.

ACE After School provides a fun and safe environment for students after school from 3-6 p.m. on full days (2:25-6 p.m. on Wednesdays) and 12-5:30 p.m. on half days. REGISTRATION UltraCamp is used to manage all registration and billing activity for ACE After School. An UltraCamp account with a card on file is required to register and to use the drop-in option at any time. A family new to UltraCamp will be taken through the process of creating a new user account. Once registered, a family is unable to change to the drop-in option until the following semeser.

Pay the full amount of $1,800 at the time of registration 2. Pay $900 in August 2018 and $900 in January 2019 3. Pay $180 a month from August 2018 - May 2019 (charged on the 15th of each month) *For LL & PK students only, 3- and 4-days/week options are available. The cost for 3 days/week is $135/month or $675/semester; the cost for 4 days/week is $155/month or $775/semester. Drop-In The drop-in option is available to any family interested in utilizing ACE After School on an as-needed basis. The drop-in rate is $15 a day. Charges will be billed via UltraCamp between the 10th and 15th of the following month. For example: If a student uses the ACE After School drop-in option on September 5, the charge will be billed between October 10-15.
