er brother are gone camping for the weekend, leaving me at home with my mother. I was not happy. In fact, I would not turn my frown upside down until I joined my wonderful Brownie troop! I had no idea that jealousy of my brother’s camping experience would turn into a lifetime of scouting.
My love of Girl Scouting was reactivated as an adult when my friend asked me to help with her goddaughter’s troop.
It was like leading Camp Beverly Hills in relation to my Girl Scout experience from over a decade prior. I enjoyed being a Girl Scout leader and even volunteered as the Service Unit Manager. Then my journey took a twist when I became a mother of sons!!! I had to trade in my Girl Scout uniform for a Boy Scout uniform I was the best Boy Scout leader ever, because of my Girl Scout training. I even completed the highest level of Boy Scout leader training, Wood Badge.
I never thought I’d return to Girl Scouts. However, when the opportunity came to return to Girl Scouts as a Board Member, I was very excited. The different steps of my Girl Scout journey really showed me the disparities in the scouting movement, and it pressed upon me to try to help eradicate some of those variances.
As a Girl Scout, I had never thought about anything beyond our meetings and selling cookies. I didn’t know about girls serving as board members or attending conventions or traveling the world. I was excited just to go to Center of Science and Industry (COSI) in Ohio. I hope all girls get to experience Girl Scouting at every level I hope ALL GIRLS want to continue as leaders for this great movement. I know for me, I would not be the women I am today had I not been introduced to scouting as a young girl. I know I can do anything because I AM A GIRL SCOUT!

At our council's Annual Meeting, members gather to consider and prioritize actions that guide how we do what we do. This year's Annual Meeting will be held on April 17 and 18 at Bear Creek Aquatic Camp in Benton and Kentucky Dam Village State Park in Gilbertsville. The Board of Directors and other groups (including pre-elected delegates from across the council) will meet to conduct required official business items for GSK.
