The Life and Death of Sir Jay From The Solway

There once was a fish called Sir Jay, He was the richest fish from the Solway, When he was young he had a dream, To be a rock star and reign supreme.
But his father had a different plan, And warned if he did he’d end up in a chip van, So Sir Jay became depressed, But he knew he couldn’t detest. So his days in the aquarium grew longer, But his dream did never wander, Then one day he finally said, “Father I want to be a rock star or dead!” Literally wanting to become a rock star, Sir Jay may have taken it a bit too far, With his dream he could not conform, So leapt to the rocks to perform. Well you can probably guess, What happened next, Poor Sir Jay was laid to rest. A word of caution with this tale, A fish out of water is sure to fail.
Watch out it can get a bit windy, you dont want to get blown off our steep cliffs
The Coast The Solway Coast of Cumbria remains largely untouched which makes it a beautiful wildlife rich area. It is home to many wild birds and fish which is maintained by the local authorities as well as volunteers. It has natural sand dunes, wide beaches and a lovely view of Scotland, just across the water. A lot of it is open access land and you can enjoy many different walks. The Solway Firth is the 3rd largest Estuary in the UK and is even home to various endangered species.

Fish Are Friends NOT Food!
Maryport gets it’s name from being a port, once a vast trading port. Now its more of a fishing town with many fishing boats docked in the harbour. Fishing is in more of a decline which is seen with many of the boats looking rusty and run down. However it is still a living business and provide fresh fish to the market, shops and even the local chippy.
Many might have heard locals and people from around Cumbria referring to Maryport as Scaryport.

Not So Scary Port Maryport isn’t actually that scary, in fact its quite nice for a day out. There are lots of things to do to keep children occupied and I simply love it.
