how does gravity work?
gravity is a product of mass. Everything with mass, from a dust mote to a star, exerts a gravitational pull. The force of the pull, however, increases with mass and proximity to the object. Gravity is most accurately described by the general theory of relativity (proposed by Albert Einstein in 1915) which describes gravity, not as a force, but as a consequence of the curvature of spacetime caused by the uneven distribution of mass/energy. Einstein’s general theory of relativity states that objects with mass cause a curvature in space-time, which we perceive as gravity. Spacetime, according to Einstein’s theories of relativity, is a four-dimensional fabric woven together by space and time.
