Ever heard the saying “Blind as a bat?” well that’s not exactly true as most bats can see just as good as humans can however Microbats have adapted using their ears, mouth and nose to hunt in the dark.
These Mammals have unique wings, unlike birds, their wings resemble human hands with really long fingers, the skin stretched inbetween is called Patagium. Their special wings makes them one of the best fliers in the world, as it gives them ultimate control of direction, this is also proven in the way they can land upside down in caves and then hold onto the ceiling with their feet.
There are two types of Bats, Megabats and Microbats, Microbats use Echolocation whereas Megabats typically do not as they eat fruit and do not hunt. The reason why Microbats have such big ears because it is a vital part in echolocation, the bigger the ears the better! the larger surface area makes it more effective for the sound to travel back. Echolocation also allows them to determine where exactly the insect is, if the soundwave hits their right ear first they know the insect is to their right.

Echolocation is the soundwaves and echos mine where objects use it to find their navigate in the dark Some insects will fly in a zig zag pattern to try and lose the bat.
Bats send out high pitched/ high frequency sounds, the same way a human would screaming or shouting. When the soundwave hits an object it then bounces back as an echo into the bats ears. Depending on how quickly the sounwave comes back will determine how far away the insect is. (longer means its further away).
