STORIES OF COMMUNITY, CANINES, AND COMPANIONSHIP
It was easy to spot Luna, a Siberian Husky/German Shepherd mix I met at Westside Dog Park. She approached me cautiously before sprinting around the park, her tongue hanging freely the entire time. "She's always excited," John and Susan said about their visits. "When we pull into the park, she looks up to see where we are." Susan explained that Luna loves to socialize and run off leash, which prompted them to become dog park members after rescuing her about a year ago. When I asked which of the three dog parks was their favorite, they struggled to choose just one. They visit Westside often and enjoy walking Luna on the nearby trails. "Freedom is more open, and we can see her at all times," Susan said. "We haven't found one we don't like!" John and Susan enthusiastically recommend a dog park membership to local dog owners. They appreciate that the parks are clean, fellow members are respectful, and everyone follows the rules. They believe Luna would agree, and if she could describe the dog parks in one sentence, she would simply say, "FUN!"
Susan, John, and Luna's strong bond reminded me that our dog parks are about much more than open space for exercise. They're places where friendships grow, stories are shared, and neighbors come together through a shared love of their dogs. Luna is a wonderful example of that spirit, and I'm glad our paths crossed during my visit. Greenwood Parks and Recreation is proud to offer three unique dog parks, each with its own setting and amenities. Thanks to the generous support of Pet Suites, Earl Grey Plumbing, and Ruoff Mortgage, these parks provide safe, welcoming spaces for dogs and their owners to enjoy. University Park features a large fenced area with a shelter, water fountain, and agility course. Freedom Park, the largest of the three, offers separate areas for large and small dogs, along with a water fountain and picnic tables. Westside Park provides another great option with large trees for ample shade, a water fountain, and an agility course. For information about dog park memberships and pricing, visit greenwood.in.gov.

This smaller version of our main turf field can host tiny soccer, bocce, and aerobics/boot camp classes among other programs and leagues. *No cleats on turf
MAIN GYMNASIUM Sanded down and completely refinished, we were able to preserve the floors from the old Greenwood Middle School gym. Newly lined for 4 pickleball courts, 1 volleyball court, 1 full-court and 2 shortcourt basketball courts. With seating for over 300 spectators, the options for this playing surface are plentiful.

PRACTICE COURT This court is lined for volleyball and pickleball and includes 4 basketball goals that can be lowered to 8 feet. Rentable for birthday parties or private lessons, and available during open gym time, there are lots of possibilities on this multi-sport surface.
BATTING CAGES Our batting cages are available for rent by hour or half hour. Pitching mounds, batter’s boxes, and L-screens included with rental cost. Bats and balls are provided if needed.
