BUILDING FROM A S T R O N G F O U N D AT I O N Its been my honor to serve as your 2018-2019 Chair of the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce. In my 15 years of involvement with this organization, I know a Chamber of Commerce is nothing without its members and support of our almost 1,200 businesses that allow us to push forward our mission to “Cultivate Sarasota’s prosperity through our member business.”
our programs hosting another successful YP Summit for our Young Professionals and elevating our Leadership Sarasota County through updates to the Adult and Youth programs as well as hosting our first Leadership Conference. Your Chamber remains fiscally strong and has exceeded all revenue goals for the year and invested in building its infrastructure.
As I reflect over the year, I want to share some accomplishments we are so proud of as we continue to serve our members.
We remain committed to supporting our business through advocacy and public policy - with our trips to Tallahassee and addressing initiatives important to the business community. One of those being our strong commitment to workforce development in Sarasota County. The workforce development initiative of the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, CareerEdge, is bringing a value-added benefit to members to grow companies with a skilled workforce. This work is supported by national grants from Boeing and the U.S Chamber of Commerce that were received this year, and advocating for funding here in Sarasota by partnering with community organizations such as USF Sarasota-Manatee and other partners to create a Regional Workforce Legislative Agenda which was just presented to the delegation in September.
Our leadership team is stronger than ever - This year we had the privilege of welcoming Heather Kasten back to the Chamber family as our President and CEO. It’s under Heather’s leadership the Chamber will continue to innovate, thrive and address the needs of our business community. The foundation of this Chamber is to Connect, Promote and Support our members and your Chamber is firing on all cylinders at this. We are building a strong team in the staff, welcoming two sales professionals to help us continue to grow the membership and support the mission of this organization. We have exceeded the projections - Welcoming over 210 New Members. We continue to connect our members through a platform of events which saw over 5,974 attendees this year. We are innovating

Patricia Entsminger, CPA Patricia “Trish” Entsminger, CPA joined Kerkering Barberio & Co. in 1999. Trish has maintained a diverse skill set which spans across multiple areas of accounting. The areas of emphasis include not only tax and internal audits, analysis and design of internal control systems, forensic accounting, developing programs to assess compliance with government regulations, but she also heads up the Firm’s growing Outsourced CFO Accounting team. Trish and her team are dedicated to serving nonprofits, mid-size companies and high-net worth families with multiple businesses. They offer peace of mind to clients who struggle to keep up with day-to day financial and tax concerns. The team combines tax, audit, internal control and CFO knowledge to provide comprehensive financial and tax consulting services to clients on a daily basis. Over the last three years, the Outsourced Accounting client base has grown substantially and the number of staff serving this segment has doubled. Janet has been a consistent source of support for our Chamber and her commitment is truly valued. Janet is the coordinator of Group Sales and Back Stage and Art Tours at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. Janet graduated from Penn State University, and after taking courses at University of Pittsburgh and UCLA, she got her masters from Columbia University. She then went on to get her Administrative degree in Education from Southern Connecticut State University and started working on her doctorate at the University of Massachusetts before moving to Florida from Connecticut in 2006. One of her greatest experiences was teaching for the Agency for International Development in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania at the Technical Institute where she spent more than two years training Tanzanian government employees in business procedures. During this time, she also successfully climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro (and without oxygen!) Janet is an active member of many different organizations in our community, including five local Chambers of Commerce, the Penn State Alumni group, the Ringling, the Galas for American Cancer Society and Save Our Sea Birds. Ms. Arena loves living here on the Suncoast and is especially appreciative of her network of friends. Sarasota Young Professionals Group Names Finalists for Young Professional of the Year - The Sarasota Young Professionals Group (YPG), a program of the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, has announced the 2019 Young Professional of the Year Award Finalists. Sarasota Young Professionals take the morning to ‘refresh’ - Young Professionals gathered on Aug. 23 at the Embassy Suites Sarasota for the fourth annual YP Summit: Refresh. The conference focused on how to grow personally, professionally, and as a leader in the community. Grant assists employers with advanced manufacturing skills training - CareerEdge Funders Collaborative, the workforce development initiative of the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce that works to provide opportunities for better jobs and wages in Manatee and Sarasota counties, was selected to receive a $125,000 grant from the National Fund for Workforce Solutions, funded by The Boeing Co. Sarasota and Manatee administrators discuss shared ideas - On Thursday, a capacity crowd of 250 attended “Regional Impact,” a forum at the Carlisle Inn sponsored by the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance [...] and the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce.

Lakewood Ranch Medical Center (LWRMC) recently celebrated 15 years of providing health care services to Manatee and Sarasota Counties. Pro-Motion Notions recently celebrated the 30th Anniversary of their Sarasota based promotional products distributorship. Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) passenger traffic set an all-time record for the month of June with 147,615 passengers traveling through the airport, which was a nearly 50% increase from June 2018. The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota has been awarded a Level 2 Accreditation by TheArbNet Arboretum Accreditation Program and The Morton Arboretum for achieving particular standards of professional practices deemed important for arboreta and botanic gardens.
