From: Susan McCoy In 1973, Rebuilding Together, formerly know as Christmas in April, started in Texas with the simple act of neighbors helping neighbors. They repair homes of families, seniors, people with disabilities and victims of disaster. Rebuilding Together Greater Newport is a 501C3 and is an affiliate of the national office. They rehabilitate homes and social service agencies in Newport, Middletown and Portsmouth (Aquidneck Island). They are accepting applications for work to be done by volunteer sponsors during the month of April, 2020. Interested applicants should go to their website, rebuildingnewport.org. The applications are due by November 8, 2019. The work should be able to be accomplished in two days. The work is free of charge. Applicants must own their own home and fall under the income guidelines of HUD.

For the past eight years St. Paul’s Methodist Church has been opening its doors for the outreach program, Warm-Up Wednesday: The program will resume on October 2, 2019 from 1-4 p.m. and will be on every Wednesday until the end of March, 2020. All in the community are welcome! Come enjoy hot coffee, hot tea, and refreshments. Join conversation or find a quiet corner to read, do a puzzle, or be creative with art materials.

BANKNEWPORT EXPANDS MARINE LENDING DIVISION NEWPORT, RI (September 3, 2019) – BankNewport announced today the expansion of its Marine Lending Division, leveraging its lending capabilities to offer a suite of competitive and innovative consumer marine and recreational vehicle financing programs. The announcement marks the formation of OceanPoint Marine Lending that will operate as a division of BankNewport.
Over the past year, BankNewport has maximized its strong position in the marine financing industry through the acquisition of two privately owned boat loan origination companies – JustBoatLoans (JBL) by Vertisol, Inc. earlier this year and Offshore Financial in April 2018. The acquisitions positioned the Bank to vastly expand its tailored finance programs for new and used boat purchases and refinancing options for existing boat loans, in addition to a variety of lending options for recreational vehicles, marine-related insurance products and banking products.
