Middletown (RI) August 98, 2019 – Child & Family’s Elder Care program hosted a Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at their 31 John Clarke Rd, Middletown, RI 02842 location. The luncheon was an opportunity for Child & Family to honor and thank the volunteers of their Friendly Visitors program. As Rhode Island’s older resident population grows, Child & Family’s Elders Care services seeks to enhance their quality of life with dignity and respect for independence. Child & Family offers comprehensive services and a holistic approach to meet the changing needs within our community. The Friendly Visitors program is an outreach to senior residents in need who live in Newport County. The goal of the program is to provide homebound seniors opportunities for socialization and companionship. Volunteers and elders enrolled in the program will be pre-screened for compatibility, such as having similar vocations or interests, and they will be introduced to each other by a Child & Family Elder Care program staff member. “Child & Family is grateful to all our volunteers. From those that give their time to help with our Sandpipers Early Learning Center, those who help with special events, and our “Friendly Visitors”, we are able to do more for the families we serve due in “thanks” to these volunteers. Child & Family has over 300 community members donate their time each year,” Marty Sinnott, President & CEO, Child & Family. “The time commitment for volunteer Friendly Visitors is as a little as one hour per week and our volunteers tell me it’s the best hour they spend all week,” Gerry LePage, Elder Care program with Child & Family. Hack For Global Good was created by two Rhode Island high school students focused on bringing together diverse teams from across the state to help solve Global Challenge.
