As Chair of the Greater Memphis Chamber Board of Directors, I am honored to present this year’s annual report. It is a testament to what happens when vision meets execution, and when a community unites behind a shared purpose.
In this year’s annual report, you’ll see the evidence of a national championship year for our region, headlined by the Greater Memphis Chamber being named the 2025 ACCE Chamber of the Year. This is a first in our 187-year history. This historic recognition validates what we’ve long envisioned: Memphis as the Digital Delta, a reality now proven by billions in capital investment, thousands of high-quality jobs, and transformative infrastructure projects reshaping our economic landscape.

GREATER MEMPHIS CHAMBER WINS PRESTIGIOUS 2025 ACCE CHAMBER OF THE YEAR AWARD
Winning Chamber of the Year is a highly sought-after designation amongst chambers of commerce across the country. This award is a recognition of our chamber’s excellence in operations, member services, and community leadership. The last time Memphis applied for the award was roughly 20 years ago, and the Chamber was unsuccessful. But 2025 was different. We had the people, the programs, and the support of our investors. While Chamber of the Year is a big deal to industry professionals, other people may not see it that way. Winning Chamber of the Year should be celebrated throughout the city because it does
not just mean the Chamber is good at its job. It is a recognition for our city’s ability to take on new challenges, persevere, and adapt to change. It’s a testament to the desire that runs deep in this city to do more for our community. As incoming 2026 Chairman of the Board of Directors, Duncan Williams is stepping into his role with a clear vision for Memphis. At the heart of that vision is a commitment to changing the Memphis narrative — helping ensure the city is more often defined by its momentum, innovation, and the people working every day to move it forward.
At the 2025 Annual Chairman’s Luncheon, Duncan introduced For Memphis, a simple but ambitious initiative designed to help do exactly that. Each week, he sends an email to 100+ of his contacts highlighting positive stories from across the city — stories of progress, leadership, investment, and impact. In each message, he will challenge those recipients to share the email with 100 of their own contacts, creating a growing wave of positive visibility.
The goal of For Memphis is to shine a brighter light on the good news happening across the community and the people helping shape it. By expanding the reach of those stories week after week, the initiative aims to build civic pride, shift perceptions, and encourage more people to take part in telling a stronger story for Memphis.

THE NUMBERS DON’T LIE, BUT THEY DO BRAG.
Our wins in the economic development space are vast. We focused on regionalism in 2025 and announced projects throughout our MSA—Arkansas announced Google in West Memphis and Tennessee announced Silver Hills Bakery in Rossville—just to name a few. Several members of our business community announced huge expansions in the region, providing new jobs and new investment to our community.
A huge win for us, led by our GMERG team, was winning the bid to host the 2026 C2ER conference in June, a conference that brings together professionals in economic, workforce, and community development research. Additionally, GMERG assisted in the release of the Memphis Music Strategy report that laid out a plan to build our music ecosystem.
Our existing business team hosted over 20 manufacturing tours, and in October, held our biggest Manufacturing Month Kickoff ever with 150+ students from Tennessee and Arkansas schools. We introduced 200 students to careers in manufacturing.
We didn’t stop there. Also, in October, we partnered with the Memphis World Trade Club to host the 2025 Logistics Summit. We had over 175 attendees and brought in numerous speakers to share on AI, global logistics and more.

34 local workforce practitioners were selected to participate in the TPM Academy. The Cohort graduation and presentation of final projects was held on February 13, 2026.
GMC was selected by Coca-Cola Foundation to partner with the US Chamber
Foundation to launch a TPM Academy in Memphis. Talent Pipeline Management® (TPM) is the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s flagship workforce program, designed to catalyze employer-led education and workforce partnerships. The Memphis Academy launched in August of 2025 with a Champions meeting and the opening of applications for workforce practitioners.

From City Hall to Capitol Hill, Memphis had a voice in the room.
SHOWING UP WHERE IT MATTERS: A YEAR OF STRATEGIC ADVOCACY
2025 was another busy year for our Government Affairs Team. We kicked off the year with our annual MEM2NASH trip in February. MEM2NASH drew 80 investors to Nashville in where we engaged with over 25 legislators, 7 cabinet members, and Governor Lee. These were a series of productive meetings advocating for the needs of our business community.
Following MEM2NASH, we hosted our Chamber Day at City Hall. We had 75 investors meet with City leadership, including MLGW, the Chief of Police,
the Director of Public Works, and Mayor Young.
In September, we went to Washington, DC for our annual MEM2DC trip. At MEM2DC, 13 investors joined us for 8 meetings where we met with both Tennessee senators, both Shelby County Congressmen, both Mississippi senators, 1 Arkansas senator, and 1 Arkansas congressman. We had great discussions about the state of our region and what legislation would benefit our community.

In addition, we hosted 10 community advocacy sessions where we went into the community and shared information about who the Chamber is, economic development 101, and provided avenues for constituents to share the good news about the work we do. Over the past year, the Young Professionals Council (YPC) experienced significant growth and renewed momentum. Membership increased from approximately 600 to 855 young professionals, reflecting strong demand for meaningful connections, leadership development, and civic engagement opportunities.
YPC hosted 12 thoughtfully curated events throughout the year, spanning
professional development, wellness, civic exposure, and community building. Programming emphasized accessibility, intentional networking, and leadership pathways, helping to strengthen engagement while expanding YPC’s visibility and impact across the Greater Memphis Chamber ecosystem.
Under this renewed approach, YPC continues to serve as a pipeline for emerging leaders, fostering collaboration between young professionals, Chamber investors, and regional stakeholders while positioning the next generation to shape the future of Memphis.

The Women’s Business Council continues to create meaningful opportunities for professional women to expand their networks each quarter, with an average of 80 attendees per event and nearly 20 professionals new to the Chamber engaged at each gathering. Programming is intentionally shaped by insights from post-event surveys, ensuring alignment with the
evolving needs of participants. The Council also deepened its commitment to intergenerational engagement through its continued partnership with Soulsville during Women’s History Month, including a leadership shadowing opportunity for three students and an event that engaged 15 students in facilitated table discussions and interviews, providing valuable experience in high-level professional communication. Our Communications Team worked hard this year. In addition to assisting in the Chamber of the Year win, we launched our first-ever podcast, The Talk Chamber, and amassed over 1.5K All-Time Downloads across 29 episodes. We spotlighted our member businesses in two editions of Greater Magazine. We had over 2,000 media mentions across the world, reaching 10.5 billion people.
Our Comms Team took a trip to New York City to meet with national news outlets. In addition to our media and content achievements, we hosted a total of 135 events including the State of the Economy, Midyear Chairman’s Forum, and the Annual Chairman’s Luncheon. This year, we held a record-breaking 119 ribbon cuttings whether it be anniversary ribbon cuttings or grand openings.

As the Chairman of the Chairman’s Circle, I have had the pleasure of witnessing an extraordinary year where vision became reality. Being named Chamber of the Year validates what we’ve known all along— our collaborative business community is one of our greatest strengths. The investments flowing into our region, the jobs being created, and the national recognition
we’re receiving aren’t accidents. They’re the result of strategic partnerships and a shared commitment to Memphis’s future.
