Why do you wish to become a Future Faces executive committee member?
Adam Gadsby
I am a huge supporter of FF and was recently awarded the Ambassador award at the GBYPY awards 2023. Having turned 36, I expected to step back from FF and hand the reigns of PI-KEM’s involvement over to our younger team members, who I have encouraged to join the programme. However, the ambassador award, and prospective membership upon the committee gives me the perfect opportunity to give back to the network that had a huge impact upon my own confidence and career. As a senior manager at PI-KEM, I know my experience on a management team will allow me to help organise and problem solve any challenges faced by the FF committee. I have been a member of FF for some years now, and I’ve seen its growth and development first hand, I want to bring this experience to the committee to help it continue its momentum. Finally, I would like to act as a liaison between the network and my local region, I have met many Future Faces members locally to Tamworth, who aren’t attending city centre events, missing out on the opportunities they provide, I would like to change that, by continuing to support FF in my area. Since having joined FF last year, I’ve been inspired by the warmth and support from this community. I would like to join the FF executive committee to help empower and foster Birmingham's young talent. I think FF is an amazing platform that provides a great opportunity for professionals in Birmingham to be nurtured and grow by connecting with others in the region. Through taking part in this year’s mentoring programme and attending FF events, I’ve experienced the genuine power of building these connections. I strongly believe in the importance of developing young talent, which is why I volunteer throughout the year as a graduate mentor at Birmingham City University. This year, I was also invited to be on the judging panel for the Hatchery at STEAMHouse.

What excites me is the prospect of being able to collaborate with other committee members. With my background in marketing, I would be able to bring a creative approach and events management experience to the committee to help make a meaningful impact so members can continue to feel valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.
I hope that if I join the committee, I can firstly expand my network but most importantly become a go to person for young professionals to come to when they need something. I currently mentor others within my firm and enjoy it to the extent that I want to expand and challenge myself outside of the legal profession. Being a young professional that loves meeting new people and finding out about their lives I believe becoming a member of the committee will give me the reach to do this. being approachable and easy to talk is an attribute I pride myself on. I enjoy planning events and organising the logistics behind them which is a skill that is invaluable for the role. I am currently on the social committee within my firm where I do exactly the same thing which may help with contacts in Birmingham for FF events.
Emily Berridge I have really enjoyed the Future Faces events I have attended so far and I have found them incredibly valuable. I would like the opportunity to continue the work done by previous committee members and to both support current members and help grow the Future Faces membership. I would also like the opportunity to get more involved in ensuring Future Faces is as diverse and inclusive as possible. I want to help all young professionals to have the chance to build their careers and overcome adversity, whether this is by putting them in touch with other members and stakeholders or sharing my own experiences of navigating the professional world with a disability.

I am conscientious and endeavour to achieve the best outcome from projects I am involved in. I communicate with clients on a daily basis and have to understand their background and requirements in order to provide specific tax advice. The clients I work with are also from a variety of sectors. I will be able to use the skills I have learnt from my day to day role to form connections with the committee, Future Faces members and other stakeholders. I believe my main qualities and attributes are being a leader, building personal relationships and my enthusiasm. My strong existing network, personal brand and being part of the Mentoring Committee will help enable synergies across Committees and bring a fresh set of eyes to help the EC achieve its objectives, including progress in terms of young professionals engagement, more FF memberships, events and build the network. Having been fortunate enough to be the FF of Finance Winner 2022, I understand the profound positive impact of the awards and being part of a belonging network can bring to a young professional’s career. I would now like to represent FF from a leadership perspective. I have strong relationships with the existing EC members as well as FF members who feel very comfortable speaking with me at events and through LinkedIn. My relationships will help
enable me to seamlessly fit in and start collaborating with the Committee. I have been championing BFF for over a year now and this would formalise my role and help provide a platform to be a leading voice for developing young professionals. I have an open mind and will be put my all into being an EC member. Over the last 12 months, I’ve been an active member of Future Faces, and my own confidence has grown significantly as a result, helping me to meet new, like-minded people, challenge myself personally, and accelerate my professional development. The current committee has helped me to come out of my shell and make genuine friendships along the way; I’ve been encouraged to put myself forward for opportunities like the GBYPY awards (which I was a finalist for) and professional development events have helped me to reflect on my own management/leadership skills and share this knowledge with my colleagues.

As an executive committee member, I would be an ambassador of the work that Future Faces does and hope to have a positive impact on young professionals, just as the membership has had a positive impact on me. In terms of my personal attributes, I am highly organised and ambitious, with experience managing junior staff whilst working closely with senior team members, collaborating with external suppliers and agencies, and ensuring a consistent ‘gold standard’ of client service delivery. I hope to bring this same dedication as a committee member to ensure that Future Faces continues to be the leading network for young professionals. I am heading into the 4th year of my start up journey (Jam N Vegan). Along the journey I have raised capital, hired a team, developed & designed my products, built resilience and felt what it takes to create a successful business. We are now heading into the new year, with deals with Ocado, Waitrose, Spinneys (Dubai), CLF, Suma and Cotswold Fayre, Aswel as speaking with Wholefoods. To conclude, the adventure of business has provided the highest highs and lowest lows, above all, I have learn't the art of failing forward. I want to pass my experience on.

I have gained a massive amount through the networking, events with businesses as well the mentorship program and I want to contribute in a way that magnifies the impact that Future Faces can have. As well being a Non-Executive Director already, my unique attributes include: •

I would love to have an opportunity to support the development of young professionals within Birmingham. I have been a financial planner for three years and have been honoured by the acceptance and support from members when I have attended events. I would like to share the network with others who are looking for a supportive environment to build friendships and professional connections.
Nadia Smith
I am passionate, dedicated and motivated to make a difference in my city. I am a proud Brummie, and care greatly about supporting local services. As a financial planner, I have time to dedicate to supporting others through a committee, networking or one a one-to-one basis. I have a background in Clinical Psychology, and value being a good listener to anyone needing support or someone to listen. I don’t always have the answers, but I will go the extra mile to connect people together. Diversity is important to me, and I would like to be an additional voice for disabled professionals within the city who may have had difficulties finding their place in professional services. I would love the opportunity to support events, schemes and networking events within the Greater Birmingham area, and be a driving force for success and change.
Having been a member for over a year, I've actively engaged with the organisation's programs, such as the mentoring program. Through personal experience, I have witnessed the substantial impact Future Faces has on the professional growth of its members. I am inspired by the organisation's mission and am enthusiastic about contributing to its initiatives. I am eager to collaborate with the committee members, bring fresh perspectives, and work towards the continued success of Future Faces. I'm a great listener and a people person. I value different perspectives and believe that diverse voices make us stronger. I'm not afraid of new challenges – in fact, I thrive on them. My background in hospitality and events has given me the skills to tackle problems head-on and find creative solutions. I love coming up with new, innovative approaches to issues. I'm not bound by traditional methods and am always open to fresh ideas. Plus, I've got practical skills in project management and event planning that I think could be a real asset to the team. I aspire to become a Future Faces executive committee member due to my belief that my background and qualities align perfectly with the organization's mission. Coming from a lowincome background, I've personally experienced the power of community outreach and mentorship, I found support in local counselling and specific role models in schoolteachers who pushed me to progress through education whilst others around me did not. My strong analytical skills and logical thinking, honed through education both in the traditional sense of exams but also learning from colleagues and seniors in business. This experience enables me to approach complex problems with fresh perspectives giving me confidence to speak up when I believe I may have answers to problems that are still to be solved. I thrive on adapting to new challenges, viewing them as opportunities for improvement and progress. I believe these attributes would make me an asset to the executive committee, driving forward the organization's objectives. I believe my skills can be a great addition to a committee who have the shared purpose of trying to shape the future of growth in the Birmingham area in a way that nurtures diversity in community and the availability of employment to everyone.
It would be an honour to join the Future Faces executive committee to contribute actively to the vibrant network of young professionals in Birmingham. Winning the Greater BYPY Award in the startup and entrepreneurial category has not only been a personal triumph but has also instilled in me a heightened sense of motivation and achievement. I am keen to share this energy and encouragement with fellow young professionals, fostering a culture of growth and success.

I am particularly passionate about the Wellbeing Café, which has had a successful first year but has the potential to grow even further. I would be honoured to fully step into the role as the head of the wellbeing subcommittee and help it to reach its full potential. As a founder and entrepreneur, I have a deep understanding of the start-up and entrepreneurial space in Birmingham. I can use this
knowledge to help Future Faces to better support young entrepreneurs in the region. I am extremely committed to Future Faces and its mission to support young professionals in Birmingham. I would be deeply grateful to continue in this role.

I am passionate about raising the profile of Birmingham and developing its global talent pool. I would like to help support young professionals, representing the views of members and ensuring their voices seek out the most valuable and productive audience. I am hard working, enthusiastic and motivated – qualities demonstrated previously during my time as committee member. I am accomplished at delivering tasks and projects such as the Mentoring Scheme x2 cohorts, collaborative and would enjoy working alongside committee members and stakeholders to help drive initiatives forward. I am willing to constructively challenge to best represent the views of our members. I have transferrable experience creating and managing events that I would like to bring to my role and take pride in being a Future Faces Ambassador. Birmingham is known for its diversity and I would like to boost inclusion in Future Faces. I would highlight the services available, try to maximise reach and participation, building on the work I have done to drive change as a board member and mentoring scheme co-ordinator with The Black Pounds Project as well. Since joining Future Faces 12 months ago, the organisation has supported my own growth. My network around Birmingham has grown exponentially and with that my own experience as a young professional. Through my professional role, I am deeply passionate about empowering the next generation of professionals and leaders. A cause that I know is at the heart of Future Faces mission. As Centre Manager at Digital Innovators, I have responsibility for developing and delivering employability programmes for over 1200 young people around West Midlands. Consequently, I have invaluable insight into the barriers that non-young professionals face and how they can be accessed, upskilled and given opportunities that organisations such as Future Faces offer. Furthermore, having created employability, confidence building and communications skills programmes, I believe I will be able to offer the executive committee and the future faces members an opportunity to develop their soft skills. This could be through workshops, seminars or online programmes. Finally, as an adaptable individual with a proven record in leadership roles I can effectively guide and motivate committee members, fostering teamwork and collaboration.
