Preserving Tradition: Grange’s highest Degree Filmed for Historical Record by Molly Newman & Karie Blasingame National Grange Communication Fellows
On March 28th and 29th, 2025, Grangers from across the country gathered at Belvidere High School in Illinois for a momentous occasion: the professional filming of the Seventh Degree, the highest Degree in the Order of Patrons of Husbandry. This is the Degree that can be obtained at National Grange Sessions, signifying a deep commitment to the Grange’s principles, ideals, and legacy. The purpose of this project, according to High Priest Roger Bostwick, was “to preserve the historic presentation of the Seventh Degree in full costume, while the costumes are still in a condition that allows them to be used.” The event was an extraordinary continued on page 5 success, with nearly the entire
