WINTER DRIVING RANGE HOURS: BACK TEE CLOSES at 3:00pm. MAIN TEE CLOSES at 4:00pm
We have a Titleist GT1 fairway metal and hybrid fitting day scheduled for February 13th from 10am to 2pm The new GT1 fairway clubs are really getting great reviews from PGA Tour players You will need to book an appointment through the Golf Shop.
Please, please try to be careful and SLOW DOWN when driving the carts over the curbs, we continue to have flat tires from the inside of the tire being cut by the curbs. The cuts cannot be plugged so we are going through a lot of new tires With our busy season ahead of us we need all our carts available on our busy days.
Always remember when your group has an open hole in front and players behind you are waiting, always allow them to play through! If you are invited to play through, try to get through the group as quickly as possible!
Special note to our Afternoon Walking Members: We have extra sand tubes located at the golf shop entrance for your use. Please take a full one and leave your empty to be refilled If you have your own tube, our Outside Services team is happy to refill it with green sand for you

Brrrr…. It’s cold out there!
FROM THE WOMEN’S GOLF LEAGUE
The ladies of GHWGA have had to bundle up for January golf! Some girls, however, just can’t bear to miss their Tuesday golf Consequently, even though league was cancelled on January 7, due to freeze warnings, four brave souls challenged the elements and finished all 18 holes! Since there were no prizes to be distributed, the ladies pictured below (Diane, Suzette, Barbara, and Roe) treated themselves to some well-deserved hot beverages!
Seagals also battled the cold at LPGA on the following Tuesday. These ladies received the largest number of team points in their matches Way to go, girls!
This month they will play at Crane Lakes on the 17th WPC will travel to Oceanside for a match on February 20th Best wishes to both teams!
While there are no “official” Valentine’s tournaments this month, both Stableford Special Tuesdays in January and February will see goodies which reflect the holiday.
We welcome back to this frigid climate those ladies who went north for the holiday season, and we bid a fond farewell to those who have chosen not to renew their membership. May blessings and good golf follow you!
Putting doesn’t always have to be on a regulation green, and to prove this Diane won a putting contest on board a Celebrity ship in the Caribbean!
FROM THE MEN’S GOLF LEAGUE
The MGA had its winter shootout on January 10th, playing on the back ten, with the top ten MGA golfers who were the big point-getters in the past four months It was a frigid afternoon in Grand Haven, and the MGA Shootout occurred. The excitement and the chilled air added an apprehensive but cold, festive nature to the proceedings.
Ten golfers participated in the event: Carl Zimmermann, Jan Marsh, Mike O'Brien, Tony Blackmore, Pat Wood, Al Aldecoa, Scott Anders, Jack Hinsch, Jeff Lacko, and Tim Mott Defending Shootout Champion from the Summer contest, Mike O'Brien was competing again, hoping for another notch on his competition belt They were assisted by the following caddies: Mike Prior, John Holzinger, Greg Wynn, Emma Blackmore, Tony Arcaro, Lee Figliuolo, Al Pacelli, Mike Rowlands, Pam Lacko, and B J Mott Special thanks to Eli Smith for running the proceedings, Bob Schwarzlow for serving as Chipping Marshal, and Don Warfield for serving as field marshal
The ten golfers began by playing together on #10 and, through elimination, were reduced by one on each hole until reaching #18. There, the last two men standing played it out until a shootout champion was crowned In this case, Tony Blackmore and Al Aldecoa were the previous two, and Al won the coveted “Fickle Finger of Fate” award as the Shootout Champion for the Winter Season 2025
Watching these ten golfers compete together was an exciting round of golf The level of play was extraordinary Thanks to their skill and focus, they provided an entertaining afternoon for those of us in the audience.
The MGA has just started the Spring 2025 season, which includes ten weeks of weekly play every Wednesday morning leading up to the spring tournament, the Presidents’ Cup, followed by the Spring Shootout on April 24th. We always welcome new members.
