Annalise Jennings is a business and community strategist with a background in risk management and 25 years’ experience in Corporate Banking. She is the founder and principal of Dynamic Exchange, an organisation committed to supporting individuals, teams, communities and organisations to reach their fullest potential. She has worked extensively with Australian Indigenous communities and is the creator of Whole of Community Change – a blueprint for economic development and social change, designed to bring about community ownership and selfdetermination. Working as a senior manager for one of the largest Australian Banks, she won the prestigious SAI Global Business Excellence Award emphasising the balance between compliance, ownership of risk and ethical behaviour. She was a 2016 Finalist for the Banksia Foundation Awards recognizing her achievements in addressing the United Nations Global Goals for Sustainability and Leadership, and in 2017 was invited to the Oslo Nobel Peace Prize Awards in recognition of her community work. Working globally, Annalise has dedicated her life’s work to bringing the age-old principles of belonging; connectedness; caring for the whole; and the shift from problem to possibility, into mainstream groups.

At the June Monthly Luncheon we welcomed guest speaker Sister Brigid Arthur who spoke about “Justice for people seeking asylum in Australia”. Sister Brigid Arthur is the co-founder of Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project (BASP). It is a Melbourne-based initiative of the Brigidine Sisters whose motto is ‘Strength and Kindness’. The Brigidine Sisters have been engaged in education and social justice in Victoria since 1886. The Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project (BASP) was established in 2001 and aims to: •
provide hospitality and practical support for people seeking asylum
•
actively network with like-minded individuals and groups who are working for justice for asylum seekers
•
promote advocacy for the rights of asylum seekers
•
raise awareness of asylum seeker issues and concerns through a range of activities

2022 Midyear Annual Appeal Funding Graduate House Residential Scholarships
2022 marks sixty years since the first terraces of Graduate House was opened as a residential college. During these 60 years our graduate residents have come from all over Australia and overseas. We have worked tirelessly to offer them a quality residential experience to enhance and support their university postgraduate studies. The contributions many of our residents have made to our college, to their university, and to their future careers have been immense. We at Graduate House are proud that we have played a role in the quality of this experience. Throughout the past 60 years numerous students have expressed their indebtedness for the financial assistance Graduate House provided to support their postgraduate study and residential experience. Our confidence in the future is such that in celebrating the 60th anniversary of Graduate House, we want to assist more graduates to have a life-changing experience by offering for the first time full or part residential scholarships. We know that for many students the cost of college residency is prohibitive – not surprisingly, many extremely worthy students who have great potential to contribute fully and significantly to college life, are unable to afford this cost. We want to address this.

Our Midyear Annual Appeal is focusing on providing full or partresidency scholarships.
•
Full residency costs approximately $25,000 a year.
•
If 10 people each contribute $500 we could offer a student $5,000 towards their residential fees.
•
If 20 people each contribute $500 we could offer a student $10,000.
•
If 10 people each contribute $1,000 we could offer a student $10,000.
•
And if 25 people each contribute $1,000 we could offer a student a full Residential Scholarship of $25,000.
•
Perhaps you are in a position to fully fund a named residential scholarship of $25,000 in honour of (or in memory of) someone special. This could be a one-off donation – or the basis for ongoing support.

We are inviting Members and Corporates to become involved in this new initiative. All monies contributed to our 60th Year Jubilee Residential Scholarship Annual Appeal will provide residential support for graduate students – none of it will be used for ongoing costs of The Graduate Union or Graduate House.
