We pray that this time will be a blessing for you as God comes to you with his Word and promises and as you offer him your thanks and praise. The worship service is printed in this worship folder for you to follow along and participate. You’ll notice that the service is a dialogue between God and us, his people. The pastor speaks to God along with the congregation and also speaks the Word of God to the people. Today we are using elements from the Christian Worship hymnal. If you would like to worship from a hymnal today, you will find these blue worship books in the hymnal racks in each row; however, you do not need to use a hymnal if you so choose, as everything needed for worship is printed in this worship folder. Personal prayers for worship are now available on printed labels located in the inside cover of each hymnal. These include prayers for before and after worship.
OUR THEME FOR TODAY—A TIME TO YEARN FOR THE END Consider the Christian man whose body aches from both the cancer and the chemo. Look at that faithful old woman, back arched by time, fingers twisted by arthritis, eyes close to blindness. These believers may pray for death, precisely because they know that for the children of God, death is not the end of life. Death is the end of sorrow and pain. They yearn for the end of those things, and the beginning of their perfect eternity with Jesus. We have come to the end of the Church Year. It is time to talk about the end of this world on Judgment Day. That day does not scare the believer. The first time Christ came he saved us from our sin and the accusations for the devil. The second time Christ comes, he will save us from everything else. On that day, disease, gone. Abuse, gone. Heartache, gone. Even death is ended. None of those things will exist ever again. But we will exist forever with our Lord Jesus. Until then we live in the time in between. As we look at all Christ did at his first coming, we yearn for him to come again to end this broken world and to usher all the saints into everlasting glory.

CONFESSION 1 John 1:8-9
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. Let us confess our sins to the Lord.
“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.” James 5:16
Holy God, gracious Father, I am sinful by nature and have sinned against you in my thoughts, words, and actions. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved others as I should. I deserve your punishment both now and forever. But Jesus, my Savior, paid for my sins with his innocent suffering and death. Trusting in him, I pray: God, have mercy on me, a sinner. Christ gave the authority to forgive the sins of penitent sinners to his church: “Whenever you forgive people’s sins, they are forgiven.” John 20:23
Our gracious Father in heaven has been merciful to us. He sent his only Son, Jesus Christ, who gave his life as the atoning sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. Therefore, as a called servant of Christ and by his authority, I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the (+) Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Mark 10:47 Kyrie is the Greek word for Lord. The expression “Lord, have mercy” is one of the oldest worship responses in the Christian Church.

Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

PRAYER OF THE CHURCH Eternal and gracious Father, today we end another year of grace. Once again the Holy Spirit has nourished and strengthened our faith as we reviewed the words and works of Jesus recorded in the Gospels. We have rejoiced to hear that you kept the promises you made to your ancient people. We were encouraged as we remembered how you empowered your followers to proclaim the good news in their world. Work in us every day to believe the truths of your Word and apply them in our lives. We are aware that we live in dangerous times as Satan and his forces of evil assault your people again and again. Give us wisdom to discern teachings that subtly deny the Scriptures. Provide courage to stand against the attacks of godless opponents. Strengthen our resolve to confess the truth and then to speak the truth in love.
Work in us every day to be watchful and cautious as we live in our world. 13
Help us take to heart that your Son, our Lord Jesus, is coming again to judge the living and the dead. Since the day of his return is unknown to us, lead us to note the signs that signal the end of time. Spare us from fear as trouble and woe increase, and fill us with hope as we long for that great day. Work in us every day to be ready for the moment of his coming. Fill us with concern for family members and friends who are not taking seriously their need for Jesus and his forgiveness. Provide opportunities to reach out to them with patient persistence and to lovingly lead them to your Word and sacraments. Make us generous with our offerings so that others can go in our place to proclaim the good news.
Work in us every day to witness to Christ and his love for sinners. Lead us to see our Savior’s face in the faces of the poor and hungry, the lonely and forgotten, the oppressed and imprisoned, and move to support them whenever we can. Empower our faith to be lights in the world so that people may see our good works and glorify you and your Son. Work in us every day to imitate your love for the lost, the least, and the last. If you call us to glory before the final day comes, carry our souls to heaven where we will await the resurrection of our bodies. Comfort those who may grieve over losing us and point them to the day when they will join us at the marriage feast of the Lamb. Work in us every day so that we are ready whenever you call us home. Hear us, Lord, as we pray in silence. Silent prayer
Fill us with hope and joy as we await your Son’s return. Cause us to enjoy your earthly blessings in light of your eternal glories and to realize that heaven is really our home. Lead us to long for the splendor of Paradise where you will wipe away all tears from our eyes. Work in us every day as we listen for the sound of the final trumpet. Amen.

Midweek Advent Services
Advent is a time of preparation and repentance as we prepare to celebrate Christmas. Join us on three Wednesdays, November 29, and December 6 & 13 for special Advent Midweek worship services. We will use the theme “Exiles” and will examine what it means to be far from home, and even more so, far from God. This series will help us ponder why we needed a way to be brought back together with our Creator and why it is so essential for the Messiah to bring us back from exile. Three weekly themes will rotate through the sites hosting our midweek services, so you are encouraged to pick one site at which to worship for these services. Our Child Learning Center here at Grace-Sahuarita is hosting a Grand Opening and ribbon cutting for our new Art & Nature Garden at 9:00 AM this Friday, December 1. Sahuarita Winterfest Light Parade: Saturday
Our Child Learning Center here at Grace-Sahuarita is participating in the Sahuarita Winterfest Light Parade this Saturday, December 2. Our float will leave the center at 4:00 PM, and the parade begins promptly at 5:30 PM. Singers are invited to join us as we share the message of Jesus from our float through song. We hope you can come out to watch the parade and then enjoy the Town of Sahuarita’s Winterfest! There will be a tree lighting, local vendors for shopping, food trucks, live ice sculpting demos, and entertainment.

This year’s Carols in the Courtyard event will take place on Friday, December 8, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM in the Grace-Tucson courtyard. Christmas Nativity Luminary Walk & Cookie Sale: December 15
Grace-Sahuarita and the Child Learning Center are hosting a Christmas Luminary Walk and Cookie Sale on Friday, December 15, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Everyone is encouraged to come see the finished Art & Nature Garden all lit up for Christmas and enjoy an interactive walk through the Nativity. Hot chocolate and treats will be available in the gym. Dozens and dozens of incredible homemade Christmas cookies will be sold for $10 a pound. Boxes will be provided. All proceeds will be going toward hallway displays for the CLC children’s artwork.
Handbells at Canoa Ranch: December 16
The Grace-Tucson handbell choir will be performing at Christmas at Canoa Ranch (5375 S. I-19 Frontage Road, Green Valley) on Saturday, December 16, from 5:00 to 6:00 PM. Men of His Word Conference: January 20, 2024
WELS men of all ages are invited to this one-day event on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the Desert Willow Conference Center in Phoenix. The theme of this year’s conference is “Built to Serve” based on Galatians 5:13. Keynote speaker Mark Neumann will speak on “Built to Serve in Every Walk of Life.” Breakout session topics include “The Man God is Building You to Be” (for teens and young adults), “Built to Serve While Working in an Unchristian Workplace,” “Built to Serve by Leading in Your Congregation,” and four more. Registration is open and is discounted through December 30. You may register and find all the information about the conference at MenOfHisWord.org/phoenix. Mission to the Children (MttC) is asking for prayers for the people in the villages they serve in Mexico as they face some very dangerous and difficult times. On behalf of the both the Pints 4 Pink Foundation and the University of Arizona Cancer Center, I want to thank everyone for the amazing support of the recent Beer Tasting event held on November 10th. I would like to note that the U of A Cancer Center is one of 53 National Cancer Institute Designated 53 Comprehensive Cancer Centers (CCC's) in the Nation. It is the only CCC headquartered in and serving the entire state of Arizona. The night was filled with laughter, amazing snacks, and fellowship as those in attendance sampled beers from four local breweries. In total we had around 35 men attend and along with approximately $1,600 raised to support cancer research that is being conducted in our own back yard. In the spring, the Pints 4 Pink Foundation will be hosting a Breast Cancer symposium for the ladies of Grace along with their friends. The event will feature wine and cheese along with researchers from the U of A Cancer Center speaking about the projects that are currently underway.
